a. ACTIVITY Today our topic is all about the music of
sinulog festival. Based from the video,
your task is to classify the mood of the
song, dynamics, tempo and
instruments that they used. Write it
down to your notebook. I will give you 3
minutes to do that. Are you ready? Yes sir!

Before we check your answers, let’s


discuss first the cultural background of
sinulog.

Sinulog festival is one of the famous festival


here in the Philippines. What city in
Visayas celebrate sinulog festival?

Very good! In Cebu City.


Cebu, sir!
On April 1521, the Portuguese to be led by
Ferdinand Magellan, they Baptist and
gave the image of Santo Nino de Cebu.

It is a ritual prayer-dance honoring the


image of Santo Nino de Cebu.

The instruments that they used are drums,


trumpets and also the gongs and other
band instruments.

This instruments are used for the rhythm for


the dance. The dancers will follow the
rhythm of the music to perform well.

The tempo of the sinulog festival is upbeat


music or fast tempo.

And also the dynamics of the music,


sometimes its loud and soft sound. It
depends of the intense part of the
music.
