Press Release for the Municipality of San Joaquin

Prior to the beginning of SY 2020-2021, the DepEd Family of the

Municipality of San Joaquin comprising 47 schools, (31 elementary schools, 5
Integrated Schools, and 11 secondary schools) presented to our dynamic and
motherly Mayor, Hon. Ninfa S. Garin and the Local Government Unit, the
Learning Delivery Modality (LDM) most appropriate and suitable to the needs of
the San Joaquinhon learners which is the Modular Distance Learning. It is a
kind of learning delivery modality where learners shall be provided with self-
learning modules (SLMs) in print and other learning resources like Learner’s
Materials, textbooks, activity sheets, study guides and other study materials.

Mayor Ninfa S. Garin held a conference with all school heads and
89 Barangay Captains for the presentation of the chosen learning delivery
modality to raise awareness to the community and at the same time, to seek
support from the Barangay officials for the successful implementation of this
modality. It was then decided that a Barangay School Learning Committee be
created in order to assist teachers, learners, and parents in the successful
implementation of this modality.

A Local School Board meeting was conducted last August 11,

2020, at the Municipal Session Hall spearheaded by Hon. Ninfa S. Garin,
Municipal Mayor. It was co-chaired by Miss Natividad T. Fuentespina, PSDS of
San Joaquin North, and was attended by all the members of the local school
board. The board allocated funds to defray expenses for various operating
expenses of the schools and for its repair and maintenance with an agreed
budget of Php2,017,462.58 and a capital outlay of Php900,000.00 which will
then be used in the procurement of three risograph machines. A public bidding
was then conducted, attended by Miss Natividad T. Fuentespina as one of the
end-users representing the Department of Education.

Yesterday, November 5, 2020, the three (3) risograph machines

were turned over to DepEd. One was received by Miss Natividad T.
Fuentespina, PSDS of the District of San Joaquin-North, and delivered it to the
AVR of the district office. Another one was also granted to the secondary
schools which was accepted by the Head Teachers and Master Teachers of San
Joaquin School of Fisheries, where it will be housed, intended for the use of the
11 secondary schools in the district. The last machine was delivered to the
Schools District of San Joaquin-South and was accepted by Mrs. Patricia
Gerona, PSDS of the said district.

These risograph machines will surely be of great help in the

reproduction of the schools’ modules and other support instructional
materials. This initiative brought determination, hope, and motivation that the
delivery of quality education in the Municipality of San Joaquin will still
continue even in these trying times.

Soar high, DepEd San Joaquin! IHOY SAN JOAQUIN!
