A very good morning to the principal, teacher, and fellow students.

As the secretary of the Health Club, it gives me great honour to stand
here if front of you all and give a speech on the topic, “How
Teenagers Can Maintain Good Health’’.

First and foremost, teenagers must eat a balanced diet based on the
seven classes of food of the food pyramid. Teenagers should eat more
fruits and vegetables because they contain vitamins that help the body
to fight diseases. Besides, ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’.

Moreover, teenagers should exercise regularly.

They should exercise at least three times a week for
30 minutes. I always think that exercising in the
evening is the best time and teenagers can jog, play
badminton or football. I often see teenagers play
football in the park and this is a great opportunity for them to make
friends.
Apart from that, teenagers can maintain good health by getting
enough rest. Sleeping for at least eight hours a day is a good start
because it links to several brain functions including concentration and
productivity which is essential for teenagers. Teenagers
should avoid burning the midnight oil because sleep
deprivation weakens the body’s immune system and this
can lead to a high risk of experiencing frequent
infections.

Another tip is that, teenagers must quit smoking because it is very

bad for their health. A single cigarette contains a lot of dangerous
chemical substances that can cause respiratory diseases such as lung
cancer, bronchitis and pneumonia.

Last but not least, teenagers must go for medical check-ups at

least once a year to make sure their body is in good condition.
Moreover, teenagers should go for dental check-ups at least twice a
year to maintain oral hygiene. As the saying goes, “Prevention is
better than cure”.

In conclusion, it is very important for teenagers to maintain good

health because they are the future leaders of the world. Hence,
teenagers should always maintain good health.
Thank you for listening attentively to my
speech. I hope it benefits all of you.
