THE WHISTLEBLOWER
This leading cancer consultant urologist from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Woolwich SE18 . Is one the community should all be proud of.
He stood by his professional obligation to protect his patients whilst being bullied!

“The trust tried hard to ruin my good name, my life and my reputation. I had to put my patients first”
In 2008 this dedicated brave whistleblower was bullied, victimised and finally suspended by The Chief
Executive and Senior Management for 10 weeks. Mr Niekrash suffered gross injustice at the hands of
bullies. The organisation clearly broke the law yet to date no-one has been made accountable. Mr Niekrash
won his court case, was awarded £17,500 damages but not awarded his £160,000 court costs. He is now in
debt for this amount. Several people ourselves included, have contacted the lawyers Russell Jones & Walker
to ask how they can justify, claiming victory on their website for Mr Niekrash, yet he owes his costs. The
payment is due by March 2011. RJW have failed to respond to any questions.
Mr Niekrash wrote letters of concern to the Chief Executive and Management. He voiced concerns
because of declining patient care and safety, most letters were ignored. The management then perceived
him as being a trouble-maker and a difficult person. A clear breach of many of his human rights. Safety
Issues he has raised since 2005 have still not been resolved (2011) according to many other staff and lead
clinicians we have spoken to. The hospital is still without a much needed urology ward for local patients.
After winning his case, Mr Niekrash was moved from Q.E. To Princess Royal. A coincidence ?????
Local patients needing urological surgery now have to travel to Princess Royal Hospital for their
procedures. For some patients the journey in itself is a nightmare, at times the journey involves 3 buses
and hours of traveling. The journey to the hospital is exhausting enough for them, but the return journey
home on public transport after surgery must be very painful and dangerous. I was disgusted to find that
transport is not provided for these sick patients after surgery. Some patients are elderly and/or disabled and
some are cancer patients. Another fact is the distress caused because patients loved ones often cannot
physically or financially make the long journey to visit them, this then leads to added unnecessary distress
for both patients and loved ones. I doubt anyone even considered the harm this could/will do.

Donna Howe lost her father, John, to cancer .The hospital has admitted that delays lead to his early death.
Donna's fight for justice for a devoted, loving father continues. He is deeply missed by so many especially
his family that loved him dearly. He leaves behind his daughter, Donna, son-in-law Steve and a beautiful
granddaughter Hayley.

Mr Ramon Niekrash blew the whistle on the SLH Trust. Dr Kim Holt blew the whistle in the Baby P case
Both are still fighting for justice, both were trying to save lives. But for some sadly it was too late.
Whistleblowers need protection from the very people that should be protecting them ...MANAGEMENT!
