Trade Marketing Assignment

Visited Carrefour/Hyperstar, the one located with LuckyOne Mall.


From the four types of shopper groups discussed in class, I associate most with ‘Empty Nesters.’
I am not open to new brands; I prefer the handful of brands that I am loyal to.
My visits to Carrefour/Hyperstar are quite frequent, its close to my residence and almost all the
grocery items are available there. Even though they cater to almost all the SECs, the outlet being
located inside the Mall; helps the fact that its never very crowded. It has local and imported
products and the shelves are never empty. In any case, the few brands that I prefer are readily
available.
Again, because I visit the store frequently, I can navigate myself around the aisle and in case the
product I want is not insight, I seek help from the ever helpful and polite staff there. I mean why
go through the trouble when they are here to help us. Even newbies can navigate through the
aisles, its easy because Carrefour places similar products together. The fact that it caters to
different SECs is why they have products ranging from high-end brand to locally manufactured
products. The products are priced at a reasonable rate, some lower than the general stores out
there.

Suggestions:
1. I personally feel that Carrefour should expand into confectionary items, there current
range of items is very mainstream. Expand the bakery is what I say.
2. Go Green. Use the 3 Rs and become eco-friendly, not just with grocery bags. Say no to
plastic bottles when offering fresh juices, stop using paper for receipts and labels.
3. Bring in more foreign brands, like Almarai and starbucks.
