Goals Essay

The importance of setting goals for your self is so you can keep challenging yourself.

Without goals that you set for yourself, you have no desire to achieve anything. After graduating

high school, my biggest goal is to become a professional firefighter/ EMT. To achieve this, I will

most likely go to a collage to get my firefighting degree, and my fire science degree. After that I

hope to get EMT certified. However, my biggest long-term goal is to start a family and have

children.

One of my educational goals is to get a degree in firefighting and fire science. This is not

required to be a firefighter, but I would love to get those degrees, so I am a target for promotions.

Soon after I would also like to get EMT certified. The reason for this is because at a lot of fire

departments you get a pay raise when you are an EMT certified. I will also need to go to an fire

academy to learn the in’s and out’s of being a firefighter, this is required to be a professional

firefighter.

My dream job is being a professional firefighter. At the very least I would like to get

Sergeant, but at the most I would like to achieve the rank of Chief or Chapin. I don’t really see

myself working at any given location, as long as I’m helping people any place is as good as any.

As long as I make a good name for myself as a great firefighter then I would consider that a

success. The hours of a firefighter are pretty cool to, its on 24 off 48 which means you work 24

hours then your off 48. In my time on I see myself weight training to be in the best shape I can,

as well as studying books and maps to make sure I know where to go should we get a call.

During my time off I’ll probably get a part time job to help pay bills and such, but firefighting

will always come first.

I also have many personal goals. One of mine is to start a family with a wife and 2 kids.

About 7 to 20 ackers would be nice so I can have a small farm with horses and chickens. I don’t

really want anything fancy just a ranch style house and about 3 cars. One for my wife which will

be a family car for going out to eat and stuff like that. And I want an old square body Chevy for

me to get back and forth to work and if I need to work on my land or anything. Then I would

love to have a 69-dodge challenger blacked out with a chromed V8 hemi big block with a

straight shift so my kids and learn how to drive a manual. This has always been my dream car

and I would love to achieve this goal. But at the end of the day my biggest goal is watching my

kids grow up and growing old with the woman of my dreams.

I wrote this about my hopes and dreams in life. Although I may or may not reach them,

they are set so I can set a goal for my life. If I achieve at least some of my goals I can honestly

look back at my life and say that I have lived with no regrets. But at the end of the day, I just

want to start a family and have a job that I love no matter what.
