PERFORMANCE TASK
What causes the formation of typhoons? In this activity, learn one of the causes.
Materials: Bowl of water, laboratory notebook, 1 whole sheet of paper, writing instruments.
Procedure:
1. Get a bowl of water. Make a prediction about what will happen if you blow gently across the bowl of water. Write your
prediction in 1 whole sheet of paper.
2. Blow gently across the bowl of water. Observe what happens to the water. Write or illustrate your observations.
3. Make a prediction about what will happen if you blow harder across the bowl of water. Write your predictions.
4. Blow harder across the bowl of water. Observe what happens to the water. Write or illustrate your observations.
5. Make a prediction about what will happen if you blow the hardest across the bowl of water. Write your predictions.
6. Ask your partner to blow the hardest across the bowl of water. Observe what
happens to the water. Write or illustrate your observations.

1. What did the expelled air represent: How about the bowl of water?
