What does it mean to be part of the LGBTQIA+

community to you?

When I was young, I felt a lot of shame about my sexuality as I

was told by the people around me that it was wrong and bad.
Now I am older. I am proud to be a part of such a diverse
community. They are my tribe. We are all unique and beautiful
just as we are. They have taught me self-acceptance,
acceptance of others and the beauty of difference. I love
being part of our LGBTQIA+ community.

Do you have any advice for any young person who identifies as
LGBTQIA+?

My advice would be, be kind and gentle to yourself. You are exactly who
you are meant to be. You are beautiful and brave and even if some people
make fun of you and try and make you feel less than, always remember you
are perfect just as you are. Love is love and your tribe are here to love and
embrace you.

What does it mean to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community to you?

I feel that it's generally a community that is very accepting of everyone

and you're allowed to be who you are. You're allowed to be weird and

quirky and people generally respect the differences among others. In

saying this I also recognise that the LGBTQIA is quite broad and diverse

and there are issues at times like in any community but generally i think

one is able to find other people they fit in and feel comfortable with.

Do you have any advice for any young person who identifies as
LGBTQIA+?

It gets better! If you're having a hard time at school or with your family, there

places, services you can reach out to that will help. Also find someone you trust

to talk to, don't hold it all inside if you're having a hard time and I promise being

queer can be really great and you will come out the otherside.
