Preposition
Aim of the application
This application was generated in order to show users the possibility of the
bumpless changeover between manual and automatic operating modes
using one data set.
This application shows how this task can be solved using free function
blocks. Further, the use of scripts is briefly described.

Scope
The following core issues are discussed in this application:
• Description of the example
• Parameterization of the drive inverter
• Executing scripts in STARTER

This application does not include any description of the following

• STARTER commissioning tool
• Basic commissioning of the frequency inverter
• Commissioning higher-level controls
It is assumed that readers have basic knowledge about these subjects.

Description

Manual/automatic operation with ramp changeover with one data set ID-No: 22079007

Application description
This application shows how a changeover between manual and automatic
operating modes can be executed on the drive MICROMASTER 440 /
SINAMICS G120 using one data set.

1 Description
This example can be used to operate slave drives (e.g. conveyor belts).
Two operating modes – "manual" and "automatic" – are required to operate
a conveyor belt as slave drive. In the "manual" mode, the drive is operated
using the motorized potentiometer and two digital inputs. This means, that
for example, the drive can be almost adapted to the process speed. In the
automatic mode, the drive should automatically track the master or process
speed entered as analog signal. The changeover between the two
operating modes should be bumpless.

This task was implemented using a MICROMASTER 440 / SINAMICS

G120 and the free function blocks without data set changeover. The
motorized potentiometer is parameterized as main setpoint. This is the
reason that it is necessary that the MOP setpoint continually tracks the
analog setpoint. When powering-down, the last setpoint is saved in P1040
as new starting value. The JOG ramp times are used when powering-up
and powering-down. After the setpoint has been reached, the normal ramp-
up and ramp-down times are re-selected. This means that for the running
process dedicated ramp-up and ramp-down times can be set which are
generally relatively slow.
The inputs are assigned the following signals:
DI0/1 * = ON/OFF1
DI1/2* = Manual/automatic changeover
DI2/3* = Increase MOP setpoint (only in the manual mode)
DI3/4* = Reduce MOP setpoint (only in the manual mode)
AI0/1* = Automatic setpoint

All of the digital inputs that are used are enabled for BiCo parameterization.
In addition to the ON/OFF1 command DI0/1* is used to change over the
ramps. To do this, when the setpoint is reached for the first time, an RS flip-
flop is set. The flip-flop is reset when the drive is powered-down (refer to
function chart fig. 3-1).

*
Please carefully note that for MICROMASTER 4 frequency inverters, the numbering of the
digital and analog inputs and outputs starts with 1 and for SINAMICS G frequency inverters, the
numbering starts with 0.

Description

Manual/automatic operation with ramp changeover with one data set ID-No: 22079007

In the manual mode, digital inputs DI2/3 and DI3/4 are directly used to
increase or decrease the MOP setpoint. A setpoint present at the analog
input is inhibited using AND logic blocks 2 and 3.
In the automatic mode, analog input value AI0/1 is compared with the
actual MOP setpoint and, depending on the result of the comparison, the
MOP setpoint is adapted to the analog value. In order to avoid that the
output frequency oscillates, the ramp time setting must be optimized in
conjunction with a switching hysteresis (this can be set using P2889). We
recommend the following: the longer the ramp-up/ramp-down time (P1120/
P1121), then the hysteresis can be that much smaller (P2889) (refer to
function chart fig. 3-2).

Executing scripts in STARTER

Manual/automatic operation with ramp changeover with one data set ID-No: 22079007

5 Executing scripts in STARTER

For fast parameter changes, you can use the attached script files.

Note:
Before you execute a script on the drive, please set your drive inverter to
the factory settings (P0010 = 30, P0970 = 1) and carry-out a quick
commissioning (P0010 = 1) of the drive.

The procedure in detail:

1. Save the attached script file in a folder on your computer hard drive.

2. Set-up a script folder for the drive in your STARTER project by clicking
with the righthand mouse key on the drive; then click on “Expert”
PDF_Manual_automatic_with_one_data_set_V2_0_en.doc

(lefthand mouse key) and on “Insert script folder”.

Copyright © Siemens AG 2008 All rights reserved

A new folder appears “SCRIPTS” at the lower end of the tree.

3. Import the script from your folder into STARTER as described below:
– Using the righthand mouse key click on the tab "SCRIPTS";
– Click on "ASCII import..." and open the required script file;
– Assign a name to the opened file and acknowledge with “OK”.

4. Go Online with the drive.

5. Execute the script by clicking with the righthand mouse key on the script
and clicking “Accept and execute”;
or open the script by double clicking on it and then pressing the button
“Accept and execute”.
