Learning of Science is based on themes. The themes to be
taught are:

• Systems – Respiratory & Circulatory Systems in Plants
and Human; Cell System; Electrical System

Learning Journey to Singapore Botanic Gardens
• To reinforce classroom learning; provide pupils firsthand
experience with organisms in their natural environment;
stimulate pupils’ interest & curiosity, and instil in them a
sense of concern for the environment and caring for
living things
• Actual date will be informed in due course.

• For classroom teaching and enrichment.
• $35 cash/cheque payment for one year subscription of

How to help your child in Science
• Show interest and explore with your child
• Make use of daily phenomena to guide your child in
making links to the scientific concepts learnt. Encourage
your child to explain what they observe using the
concepts that they have learnt.
• Ask questions and lead your child to seek answers for
themselves, instead of providing answers.
• Encourage your child to ask questions.

Keep Science Textbooks


• Do not throw away the Science textbooks and
workbooks at the end of the year,
• Concepts previously taught will still be tested in P6
Science
Strategies to answer Science examination questions:
• Read and seek to understand the question thoroughly.
• Before answering any question, identify the topic and concept(s)
being tested.
• Re-read the question to look out for key words and specific
instructions / information. Pupils should cultivate the habit of
highlighting (by underlining or circling) them.
For MCQ:
• Read each option and eliminate options that are unlikely to be the
answer

For open-ended questions:


• Apply concepts in relation to the question.
• Use scientific key words associated with the concept.
• Provide explanations based on scientific concepts, not common
sense.

CCA Enrichment Programme
- Pupils are encouraged to take part in one CCA and
continue in that from P3 to P6 so that they get more
exposure in their special area of interest and develop
their talents area over time.

- CCAs start in Week 3 (Week of 18 January)

- Schedule of different CCAs varies.

- Current CCA members and pupils who are accepted


into the CCAs are to attend CCAs only after receiving
consent forms and CCA schedule from the respective
teachers.
