Kane Richardson wanted to remain in Adelaide with Nyki and their newborn son: Cricket Australia

Richardson has played 25 ODIs and 21 T20Is for Australia since his debut in 2013

A
ustralia fast bowler Kane Richardson has decided to pull out of the upcoming white-
ball series against India to be with his newborn son, Cricket Australia confirmed on
Wednesday.

Richardson will be replaced by Andrew Tye in the ODI and T20I squads. India's tour of
Australia will begin with the 1st ODI in Sydney on November 27.

Richardson has played 25 ODIs and 21 T20Is for Australia since his debut in 2013 and has
picked 39 and 22 wickets in both the formats respectively.

The 33-year-old Tye has played 7 ODIs and 26 T20 internationals and was a backup
paceman on Australia's recent tour to England, which finished with an ODI series win over
the World Cup winners.

“It was a difficult decision for Kane to make but one which has the complete support of
the selectors and the entire playing squad. Kane wanted to remain in Adelaide with Nyki
and their newborn son.

“We will always support our players and their families, even more so given the
challenging environment we are in. We will miss what he brings to the team but
completely understand and support his decision,” national selector Trevor Hohns said in
a statement.

CA meanwhile, also announced that D’Arcy Short and Josh Philippe will train with the
Australian limited-overs squads in Sydney from next week before they join their Big Bash
sides. The decision was taken due to the fresh coronavirus outbreak in South Australia.

The new cases in South Australia are up to 20 from a cluster in northern Adelaide, and
health officials have also identified 14 others who are considered at high risk of having
the virus.
