 Based on the video that titled The Crooked E, in my view I think the video is about a
stock-related company. It refers to a stock company called Enron and has many employees under
one department. In this video, it shown some ethical issue that happen among them during their
working time. The workers at Enron did not carry out their duties honestly. They should do their
work as in charge by their superiors. This is because business ethics is a specialized study of
moral right or wrong that concentrates on moral standards as they apply to the business
institutions, organization and also behaviors. It is consist of individual ethical issues which is
ethical question about a particular individual decisions, behavior or the character.

The Enron company also did not carrying out corporate social responsibilities. Corporate
social responsibility refers to a corporation’s responsibility or commitment towards the society.
Each company should carry out corporate responsibilities where the company needs to carry out
programs or activities that can benefit consumers and society. Business ethics is a part of
corporate social responsibility and a part of corporate social responsibility justification. Enron
companies should carry out corporate responsibilities as it will definitely give them greater
returns and will definitely attract more investors to invest in their companies.

The video also shows employees at Enron holding a luxury party in one place. It shows
that they are celebrating their success with a very high share increase for their company. Based
on Locke’s State of Nature, all people are free and equal. Each person owns his or her body and
labor, and whatever he or she mixes into their own labor. The enjoyment of life, liberty and
property by individuals is dangerous and unsafe. In order to defend and maintain their right to
life, independence and property, individuals agree to form a government.

The video also illustrates how the main character demonstrates his extravagance. He had
bought a luxury sports car even though he had just started his career as an employee at Enron
companies. He also wants to hold his wedding on a large scale by renting a hall that can
accommodate about 300 guests. He also spends money by ordering dinner at this sushi
restaurant. He also bought a new television and put on an expensive watch. This situation has
make his fiancé feel anxious and uncomfortable with him.

The situation shown about the individual ethical issues where ethical question about a
particular individuals decision, behavior or character. It describe the changing character of the
main character by adopting a luxurious lifestyle after working with the company Enron. It is also
shown the criticisms of utilitarianism. This is because critics say that not all value can be
measure. While utilitarian’s say that monetary or other common sense measures can be measure
everything.

There was also misconduct in the video where important people in Enron companies left
the company for personal reasons. Supposedly as a superior, he could not leave the company
alone. He also cannot resign at will. He must make a resignation letter or notice of resignation. In
general, ethics is the discipline that investigates a society's moral principle or moral standard to
determine its reasonableness and its consequences for one's existence. Therefore, he should show
good qualities as a leader.

In addition, the main character also signed a fake deal together with his client. He tried to
trick the customer into investing in their company. He supposed no to doing those thing because
the corporate action is carried out by individuals so that they are morally accountable for what
they do and ethical qualities apply to them in the primary context, corporations have ethical
qualities only in a derivative sense. At the end of the storyline, he has corrected his mistake by
stating that the contract has not been signed by him.

At the end of the story also shows that the main character has felt sorry after being
abandoned by his lover due to his luxurious nature. He felt regretful for the wrong he had done
while working for Enron. He has also learned from the mistakes he made while working under
the Enron companies. This shown about the moral standard which is standard about the morally
correct or wrong kinds of behavior as well as the emphasis put on what is morally good and
morally bad.

Finally when the shares of Enron companies had fallen sharply, all the employees of the
company were laid off immediately and they had to pack their goods at the company. This movie
has shown to us that ethics contributes to all human processes. Without ethics, company can't be
successful. Ethics is consistent with seeking benefit. In general, clients, staff and people think
about ethics. Ethics does not distract from earnings but studies show it tends to add to profits for
the company itself.
