 DIALOGUE: “COORDINATING TRUCKING”

In the following conversation, Stephania and Natalia study sending a cargo to the port of

Buenaventura, choosing the most appropriate means of transport.

NATALIA: Good morning, how are you today?

STEPHANIA: I’m very well, thanks. And you?

NATALIA: Great, thank you!

STEPHANIA: Thanks for your punctuality Natalia, Can we start the meeting?

NATALIA: sure, no problem. Tell me what topic we will discuss today.

STEPHANIA: OK, let's start; we are going to send some roasted ground coffee boxes to

BRUSELAS, so we must do the planning, of the route to transport the Coffe to the PORT

SOCIETY OF BUENAVENTURA, and arrived at the port of Belgium, but I’m not sure

about what is the suitable transport.

NATALIA: What places of production should we consider?

STEPHANIA: Medellin and Bogota

NATALIA: we need to decide the fastest and cheapest mode of transportation; the

customer needs the load as soon as possible, to send the merchandise to Belgic we have

three types of operational transport: By road to the Seaports of Buenaventura after By sea

or air.

STEPHANIA: Tell me about the air transport.

NATALIA: OK! Air transportation is the fastest way to transport products across long

distances; but, it has well as high costs.

STEPHANIA: Natalia and maritime transport

NATALIA: The transport of goods by sea is very common, and very Cheap

STEPHANIA: perfect, what variables we going to consider

NATALIA: I think the time in travel hours and costs

STEPHANIA: It is important to have in mind freight rates, gasoline, tolls and other

additional expenses.

NATALIA: I will do a little analysis of the costs

STEPHANIA: perfect, how much time do you need?

NATALIA: ten minutes

STEPHANIA: OK, remember the coffee is transported in a adequate and big container

NATALIA: I think the best mode of transport for our product is Truck transport to Seaports

of Buenaventura and them Maritime transport because Truck transport are big, fast and

accessible and by sea this is relatively inexpensive and is used to transport large

quantities of goods.

STEPHANIA: So, we decide to send our product by land to the Seaports of Buenaventura

and Maritime transport to Belgic, Thanks Natalia. I really appreciate your help.
