Assignment #4
•  Create model based on the cylinder diameter assigned to you
•  Model steady state flow across cylinder under laminar flow conditions
(Re<150)
•  Run grid independence study to make sure the grid distribution is good
enough for your study (within the upper limit of the s/w)
•  Use the best grid as obtained above to generate Cd values for different
Reynolds numbers, and plot Cd vs Re
•  For one case, discuss boundary layer growth along the surface, Show plots
indicating the vortex generation behind the cylinder
•  For one case (Re of your choice), run transient analysis and generate flow
field to show the vortex shedding
•  Impart axial rotation to the cylinder and find out the lift force generated
•  Note: Use water as the fluid for this problem, but you can choose other
fluids also
