CIED 314 Inquiry Project Assignment Descriptor

Using a classroom management goal generated by your CPAST Midterm meeting or self-
generated, explore that goal by doing the following:

1. List your classroom management goal (observable and measurable) for the rest of
semester and student teaching.
The goal that my Cooperating teacher and I came up with is to Tend to students needs
during reading groups by using effective routines and procedures to prevent behaviors
that can negatively impact student learning.
2. What are you going to do to reach this goal? What is your action plan? Be Specific.

My teacher and I have worked together to formulate the reading groups that will be
used once our students are back full time. After reviewing their pre-assessments, we
determined we will have four groups – two of which will meet every day and the other
two will alternate days. I plan to work with a group of students on the Tuesday’s and
Thursday’s I am there this semester and then a group every day next semester. I believe
that I will be working with the higher reading level kids for the rest of this semester in
order to ease into the work on working in reading groups so then I can implement a
good routine that works and by going through my expectations each time we work
together. I will make sure they are told what materials are needed by informing them
prior to getting together. I will make sure that by enforcing my expectations and
procedures that a routine will come together, and they will be expected to follow the
routine in order for them to do their work during the reading group time.

3. Which educational theorist supports your plan? How?


Harry Wong supports this because he talks about how to work in groups based off of
how you create your groups, how they will work together, and what cue alerts will they
have to know they are working in their groups that day.
4. How will you assess your success at the end of the student teaching?

I will monitor the amount of times there are disruptions based off of not following the
procedures put in place. By monitoring how it is at the beginning of when the group work
starts versus the end up the year, I should be able to see less disruptions.
