What is biotechnology

Sandra Paulina Martinez Horta

Introduction
Biotechnology is not a science, but a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses various
disciplines and sciences.
Biotechnology itself is the use of living organisms to be able to produce different
organisms or to produce other compounds obtained from living organisms in order to
generate a better lifestyle for humans.
Objective
The goal of biotechnology is to improve people's lives by producing and manipulating the
organisms around us.
Development
As such, biotechnology has always been used by humans at all times in their lives and
development. Biotechnology has no domestic, productive and medical uses. But it is also
for military use, such as biological weapons that can be more destructive and painful than
an atomic bomb.
It is important that biotechnological innovations (like any other technological innovation)
are carefully tested and analyzed before being disseminated for general use. Clinical trials
and government regulations help ensure that biotech products placed on the market are
safe and effective. However, new information sometimes appears that makes companies
and government agencies reconsider the security or usefulness of an innovation.

Conclusion
biotechnology is used in the production of products that we see in everyday life, such as
alcohol and penicillin. It can also be used to develop new medical treatments, such as
treating gene therapy for cystic fibrosis. Biotechnology has additional applications in areas
such as food production and the disposal (cleaning) of environmental pollution.
