Let’s Start A Conversation!

Women's Day, Mother's Day, and Father’s Day, observed by many of us,
are more than just occasions of celebration. They are a reflection of our
society. We understand how these figures of human relationship
strengthen our community, how they contribute to the progress of
interpersonal connection.

One such aspect of human connection is the bond an individual shares

with himself. International Men's Day (IMD), celebrated on 19th
November, serves as a platform to acknowledge the experience and
achievements of adolescents, teens, single men of all ages.

Every year, IMD also features present-day issues that are a part of men’s
lives. It is not to compete with popular conventional ideas of
commemorative days, but acknowledge peoples' voices. Another crucial
aspect is to erase negative images of masculinity, stigma on mental health
and promote gender equality.

This year the theme of International Men's Day 2020 is “Better Health for
Men and Boys” intending to make effective improvements to the health
and wellbeing of men in modern society.

Better Health for Men and Boys

This year the focus is on men’s social, emotional, physical, and even
spiritual state in line with changing social circumstances. With the world
affected by the pandemic, we are still feeling its effects. We are
emphasizing the fact of safety and social distance for everyone. In these
times, health and well-being is very important, especially mental and
emotional health plays a huge role, and it should be taken care of.

Take care of Mental and Physical health

Analyze yourself - There can be the times you spend with your friends or
family, but there should constantly be a time for yourself. Sit down and
examine where you are and what you need to be. There will not be a
better time than spending time with yourself available to you to think
about the future and set things right. Give yourself some space when you
need it; use the time to prepare a meal, read a book, play, or whatever it is
you like to do when you think you need time to switch off. This is the
first step for self-care.

Face Stress and be surrounded by good people. Face stress calmly. The
remedy for this is to keep your mind and body at peace, to do that, you
should be on track with the daily routine of meditation and relaxation
practices. Coming to Physical Health, there should be no compromise in
your health and fitness. Hit the gym, or if you want to get out of your
home and receive some fresh air, you can go out for a walk or run in your
area. There is always space in your home to exercise, do yoga, and
meditate, and the internet provides you with all this.

Activities you can do on International Men's Day

There are many charities committed to helping men experience better
lives. You can find one of those, and your contribution will be of great
help, whatever it may be. Also, Consider choosing up a book or viewing a
movie about influential Men whose life and work is till making an impact
on the world. Finally, check in with your male family members and
friends, and discuss how they are doing. It will mean a lot to them, and
you will feel better too.

The beauty of all Men is that everyone has a unique quality, and it is
pleasant when you find their real heart. Happy International Men's Day!
