INTRO: Electricity is one of the basic and important demands in our day to day basis. We use it in our
households, establishments, institutions, and industries. Gives us easy access good health through
sanitation and fresh food. Access to information and entertainment for mental health and development,
extends our working and learning hours to be more productive. But many people especially in
household uses appliances in rooms that are not occupied for many hours at a time, without thinking of
the actual cost of this action.

PROBLEM: How much electricity is it really wasting? Most of consumers are unaware of managing
electrical power. Most of us have this bad habit of wasting electricity. Managing household electricity
consumption plays an important role in the overall energy management. In order that we must find
alternative ways in reducing electric energy consumption. Because conserving energy at home is a
personal choice, but when multiplied by the conserving efforts of tens of millions of homeowners, it
can reduce our energy demands.

EXPLANATION: Generally, a wattmeter is a device used for measuring the power supply in watts of
overall power outlet in a house and for estimating the electricity costs of various appliances. They are of
extreme importance and extensive use in electrical related industries and like other measuring devices,
and are quite easy to use and accurate. But how should we identify which appliances consumes the
largest power? Compare to the wattmeters that we are currently using, this project is more convenient
and preferable because of its advanced applications.

INTRODUCE THE IDEA/PROJECT: This “Built-In Wattmeter in Power Outlet” has more high-accurate data
that helps consumers to provide clarity in billing and consumption data. It allows consumer to collect
data information about energy use which in turn allows them to analyze overall concerns and to see
exactly how much energy they are using and when they are using it. By providing households with
information on their energy consumption anytime, households will be made more aware of their
consumption habits and will make efforts to lower their consumption. This, in turn, allows them to
conduct much more efficient billing operations when it comes to electricity and to save money by
reducing their household energy bills.
