Covid 19 and the Filipino People

Since March, the whole country is affected with this Novel Corona Virus. We already
know that the coming of this virus in our country will bring us to new life styles. Fears and
anxieties are felt mostly of the people and questions are build-up in their minds. How does life
will become with this new normal? What will happen to us? What about our future? In this
article, I would like to open up to you how this Covid-19 affects each and every one of us and
especially how it affects our becoming a Filipino.

Work. Filipino’s are innate to work. Some works at the offices, others works at the
factory. We are a busy people. We start to work at 8:00 AM and end up to 5:00 PM. But this
work structure suddenly changed. With this pandemic, we are called to work from home
because we are encouraged to stay at home. Our personal spaces became our new offices.
Classes are being held online, thanks to the new technologies, we can do it in our virtual
world. Some says that this new normal is hard. Others said that this is comfortable. And this
change applies to each of us.

Family. With this pandemic, we are called to stay home. And with this slogan, we
became close to our family. Filipino’s loved to be with the family and this new normal bring
us closer to our homes. Family bonding are now common. House garden are on the trend.
Cooking with new recipes are happier because the whole family helps each other. I think these
factors are the good part brought to us by this pandemic.

Socialization. Virtual world is the new platform of socialization. Even though its hard to
find friends there but this pandemic help us to discover ourselves in the virtual world.
“Kamustahan: can now happened at Facebook. We can see each other through facetime,
thanks to the digital world for making this possible.
