What are dual­band and single­band routers?
Routers are also classified as Single Band or Dual Band. Again, these have an effect on the speed of
your internet connection. Single Band routers that operate on the 2.4 GHz band are the slowest and
least expensive of the lot. Dual Band routers functioning on the 2.4 GHz band are also slower and
less expensive. However, those operating at 5 GHz and connected to devices that 802.11N or

The best will depend on the requirement's from the user prospective, so IMHO from a home user
prospective it will be a cost effective, stable and less configuration intensive router.

Multiple antenna and high speed are all marketing tactics and on ADSL max speed of WAN link will
be 8 Mbps and on ADSL2+ will be 24 Mbps (most commonly it will be 1 or 2 Mbps by the ISP as
per your plan) , so a 150 Mbps single 5dBi antenna or dual antenna/ 300 Mbps (if more area,
number of devices are to be covered) from a reputed manufacturer will meet the requirement.
Suggested models may be TP­LINK TD­W8968(V2) 300Mbps Wireless N USB ADSL2+ Modem
Router or  D­Link DSL­2750U Wireless N 300 ADSL2+ or similar.

The connection provider will not matter as BSNL generally provides PPPoE, so once username and
password is configured, it will not be an issue and later some other service provider may be used, if
required.

The features of similar price range routers are generally common, but have few differences. So, if
you need USB storage, Guest network, Wi­Fi repeater or Q0S etc read the specs carefully or feel

My dlink dir 600m works fine with BSNL internet i have at home.  Shareef Umar's answer to Which is
the best wireless router for  BSNL telephone connections in India?" looks fine. In additon to that, i
would suggest that if you are using the BSNL modem (which is provided to you) for quiet some time
now or are using your own modem since a while now, you should dump it and buy router which have
ADSL capabilities in it. it saves you a lot of wiring and hassel. Also you may try router provided by
BSNL. If you arent using it as of now and are going to apply for new connection, if would suggest you
only go for single modem+router device.
