The pattern to be + going to, will or to be + verb(ing) to express a will to do something in the future
1. To be + going to
It is used to express :
a. An action in the near future that has already been planned or prepared.
- He is going to play tennis this afternoon.
b. A conclusion regarding the immediate future/ prediction with clear evidence.
- The sky is absolutrly dark. It is going to rain.
c. Future intentions
- I am going to study harder next year
2. Will
It used to :
a. To make predictions about distant, uncertain future
- You’ll become a great doctor one day
b. Offer to our help to someone or to make a promise
- I’ll cook dinner for you.
c. express a spontaneous decision.
- Wait, I will help you
3. Present continuous ( to be + verb-ing) with future meaning.
It is used to tell someone about arrangements you’ve made and scheduled.
- She’s picking up the old clothes tomorrow evening after work.
- The manager is meeting a prospective client this afternoon.
