Formative Assessment

Day 1:

Learning Objective: By answering questions on the virtual poll, the students will be able to

define and explain an informative/explanatory text and topic sentences, with three out of four

questions correct.

Description: The students will complete a virtual poll through Zoom and answer questions as

stated. The teacher will read the questions out loud so that the students can follow along.

Scoring Guide: Checklist

Differentiation: There will be no differentiation for this scoring guide since the questions will

be displayed for the students to read and the teacher will also read the questions and answers out

loud, asking the students to follow along.

Day 2:

Learning Objective: After reviewing facts about Holi, the student will write facts about the

topic, with no more than three corrections

Description: The students will work on writing facts about the given topic. The teacher will

guide the students through this process. The students will then be asked to show their sentences.

Scoring Guide: Anecdotal Notes

Differentiation: While there is no individual scoring guide, the student who is on an IEP will be

asked to write at least one fact sentence. This is because the student struggles with frustration as

he is working. He will be assessed on his ability to do so. The teacher may also ask the student to

verbally restate a fact.
