A. The last programme in this interesting series was
about the extinction of dinosaurs. Some scientists
think that dinosaurs died because they didn’t have
any food after the climate changed.

B. This was an important game against Germany but we

and they played well. The English team attacked but
they didn’t score. The second half was very boring. I
didn’t like the result or the game!

C. Last night was the tennis tournament final. Twelve

2 million people watched this exciting final. I liked
Mark but he didn’t Win. Michelle had the highest
score and won the competition.

D. In this film, Spider-Man had a new enemy “Doctor

Octopus”. The film did not have a very good story
3 but the acting was good. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten
Dunst were great and the fight scenes were amazing.

E. Trees differ from a country to another, even in one

country there are different types of trees. For
4 example, there are 700 types of trees in North
America. But there are 10,000 different types of tree
in tropical rainforests!
F. Clothes change from time to time and every period
has it’s own special type of clothes. For a real 70s
look, you need flared trousers or jeans. They can be
5 any colour but remember the trouser legs must be
very wide!

G. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions and many other

wild animals live in Tanzania. There are many
National Parks in Tanzania. It’s an attractive country
to visit if you love animals and safaris.

Schools are Special in their Own Way

Marguerite Laure is from Cameroon. She gets up at five thirty and

walks two kilometres to school. She has six lessons every day. She starts
school at seven thirty and she finishes at half past three. In the evening,
Marguerite helps her mother at home, works in the fields and does her
homework for an hour and a half. She studies ten subjects and what is
special about her school is that she studies three languages, French,
English and German.

Carol Simons doesn’t go to school. Her school, ‘The School of the

Air’, is in Alice Springs in central Australia and she lives on a farm 800
kilometres away! Carol studies eight subjects and is in a ‘class’ of ten
students. Every day, she has one thirty-minute lesson on the radio and
sometimes she has video lessons. She studies at home for five or six
hours a day and she e-mails her homework to her teacher. Carol’s teacher
sometimes flies to her farm and meets her. Carol sometimes goes to Alice
Springs for classes or for a sports camp.

Jonathan Fonseca is from Guadalajara in Mexico. In his school, some

students go to school in the morning and some students in the afternoon.
Jonathan goes to school in the afternoon. Every day, he has seven lessons,
from two o’clock to eight o’clock. In the morning, he does his homework
for two or three hours and then visits friends. On school days, he arrives
home at ten o’clock at night. Jonathan does nine subjects and his
favourite subject is history because they study it by performing plays as
projects.

Mariam Ahmed is from Muharraq in Bahrain. She goes to school for

girls only. She starts school at 7:00 in the morning and finishes at 2:15 in
the afternoon; she has seven classes a day. She studies 10 subject each
year, but her favourite is Sports because her school has a tennis team and
she’s a member in it. Every year they have tournaments that she
participates in and meets her teammates and other teams, she has a lot of
fun there.
