Blended Learning Implementation Plan

Phase 1: Prepare (August-December)

 Define goals for Blended Learning implementation

 Evaluate current classroom structure to pinpoint areas not aligned to defined goals

 Research district plans already provided

o What will work? What needs to be re-thought?

o What MUST be followed?

 Present proposal to PLC to get approval and participation interest

Phase 2: Build (December-July)

 Start planning stations based on state TEKS

o How will blended learning look when integrated with current STACK system?

o Outline stations to be used

o Research grouping strategies

o Take stock of manipulatives and supplies

o Must do/may do station work to personalize learning

 Outline learning outcomes of each proposed blended learning format

 Brainstorm schedules with a goal of small grouping 2x a week with each student

 Start Master Course in Canvas to “build as you go” for teacher team to house resources

 Talk to Technology Coach to find out if the available technology fits with the planned

classroom format

 Curate videos for flipped classroom and import into CANVAS Studio
 o From internet?

o Make own?

o Incorporate active watching activities like discussions, practice problems and exit tickets

 Develop expectations for students in a blended learning classroom

o CHAMPS for each station

o How do we rotate?

o Discuss what quality work looks like

o Discuss what collaboration with peers looks like

o How to actively watch videos

 Create classroom set up models to determine what might work best for transitions and

flow

 Present completed proposal to administration for approval

 Draft letter to parents outlining class structure and student expectations

Phase 3: Implement (August-May)

 Send letter home to parents

 Phase students into station work by introducing expectations and “practicing” one station

for 3 days at a time

o Discuss behavior expectations (CHAMPS)

o What does successful work at each station looks like?

o How to rotate

o How to leave a station for the next group

o How do I know which stations to do? Must do/May do

  Teach flipped classroom expectations

o Active vs passive viewing

o How to be prepared for class each day

 Pre-assess students for group placement

 Monitor as needed for adjustments (formative/summative assessments)

 Create survey for student feedback and suggestions for improvements

Phase 4: Modify and Improve (May-August)

 Review survey results

 Evaluate assessment data

 Discover any areas that need modifications/improvement

 Discuss any team weaknesses where we might need Professional Development/additional

training
