Bricks Process - Docx Version 1
The diagram illustrates the process that is used to manufacture bricks for the building industry.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons
where relevant.
The diagram shows the process by which bricks are manufactured and prepared for delivery.
Overall, it can be seen that this is a linear, industrial process with several stages which can be
divided into three main phases: production, drying, and delivery.
In the first three steps, clay, which is the principal material for making bricks, is dug up by a
digger. The clay then is passed through a metal grid, where it is broken down, before falling
onto a roller. After being mixed with sand and water, the clay mixture is shaped into bricks by
means of a mould or a wire cutter.
The next steps involve drying, heating and cooling. The newly shaped bricks are put into an
oven where they are dried for 1 to 2 days. They are subsequently transferred into a kiln where
they are heated at a moderate temperature, then a high temperature and finally cooled down.
This part of the process takes 48 to 72 hours to complete.
In the final two stages the bricks are packaged and loaded onto a truck to be delivered.
