Technology Integration Project

INTRODUCTION

Students will use GarageBand and/or MuseScore to arrange the piano

accompaniment/reduction of their solo piece for string quartet. After completion,
students will record themselves performing their solo along with their arrangement.
Using technology allows students to easily and accessibly hear how the instruments fit
together and which ranges/elements of music fit best for each instrument. This project
supports performing and creating objectives.

REFLECTION

I had fun creating the idea and logistics of this project. I am excited for the hypothetical
students that get to make creative decisions within their instrumentation and part-
writing. Coming up with an assessment was harder than I had previously anticipated. It
is much easier coming up with the top and bottom scores, but it is much harder to
come up with middle scores. Music is so subjective and it is important to have
objective elements to assess musical knowledge, skills, learning, etc.
