The delegate of Bolivia would like to focus on the utilisation of Private Military Contractors in
conflict zones, recognize the usefulness of private military contractors for jobs such as
personal protection, airport security, even to the extent of replacing one country’s army in
resolving disputes. However, Bolivia is alarmed by the current lack of oversight and
fragmented regulations on private contractors leading to undesirable consequences such as
a group of contractor opening fire on civilian in Iraq, causing the death of 20 people. Bolivia
hopes to introduce tighter regulations and law toward PMSCs in order to protect the safety of
everyone
