Acute Bronchitis

The inflammation of the bronchial tree due to a

pathogen or irritant. The cells of the bronchial tissue

are irritated, and the mucous membrane becomes

edematous, diminishing the bronchial mucociliary

function. So the air passages become obstructed by

excessive mucus.
