Outcomes Based Teacher Education Curriculum

I. PROJECT TITLE: DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

II. RATIONALE

The GED Eng. 01 course in college as mandated by the Commission on Higher

Education nationwide requires the students to craft outputs that are relevant in solving existing
problems in the society. The said course is offered to 1 st Year students of Philippine Normal
University-Mindanao. As part of the course requirement, the students are tasked to do Public
Service Announcements such as: Posters, Video Advertisements and Brochures.
The project poster-making titled Disaster Preparedness is one of the intended outcomes of
the course implementation in the syllabi. The public announcement using Poster aims to develop
awareness of the PNU-Mindanao students with regards to Disaster Preparedness. The students’
needs to be equipped with necessary knowledge on the precautionary measures are to be taken to
mitigate damage of human lives. All those will help them become effective agents to become
advocates of disaster ready society.

III. OBJECTIVES

The project aims to:

1. craft an informative Poster as a Public Service Announcement to Philippine Normal
University Mindanao on Disaster Preparedness;
2. encourage and Motivate Philippine Normal University Mindanao Students to become
Disaster ready community and mitigate damage to human life;
 3. disseminate information drive within the vicinity of the campus to strengthen
awareness on the threats of Disaster and the Precautionary measure to be taken by the entire
school community;
4. gain insights from the students as additional information to be taken into consideration
in building a SDRRMC in the campus.

IV. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

The activity to be accomplished is a Public Service Announcement Poster titled “Disaster

Preparedness Campaign and Information Drive.” This is to develop awareness to the entire
Philippine Normal University-Mindanao Community to become part of the active participants in
combating disaster man-made or natural. The Poster will be an informative material that will
educate school administrators, staff, faculty and students on the preventive and precautionary
measures to be taken in time of disaster. The activity will not be a one day simulation but will
become a long term activity as part of the sustainable development goals set by the United
Nations and the Philippine Government.

VII. TIME AND VENUE

The proposed activity will be conducted on September 3, 2019, 10:00 o`clock in

the morning at the Philippine Normal University Mindanao Covered Court.
