Homecoming Reminders and Information FTCKY 2011 (winter)

The 3 R's of Military Life:

Reunion
Requires
Readjustment

Deployments are hard...no matter where you are in the cycle. Although you may be getting ready for
your Soldier to step off the plane, you may also be fighting with a case of nervousness about it. And you
might feel like you're the only one...

Trust me, you're not. Nerves and anxiety about homecoming is quite common. And GREAT NEWS!
There are tons of resources and agencies out there to help you and your Soldier and Family navigate
through the emotions of reunion! Arm yourself with knowledge about what's out there. Rest assured
you're no the only one who feels the way you are feeling. Don't over plan and don't expect a fairytale or
perfection. Give it some time. And ask for help (friends or professionals) when you need it.

Below are two GREAT resources to add to your HH6 Binder and glance through. (You will receive a great
bag of ACS resources at your REINTEGRATION BRIEF, too!!!)

And...
**Don't forget to attend your REINTEGRATION BRIEFING as scheduled by your unit. Not sure when
yours is? Call your FRG Leader, Rear-D or FRSA!
**Make SURE your Rear-D and FRG has your correct contact information, in case flight times change.
**Be patient...it might be a wait if flights get delayed (better to be safe with weather and mechanical
issues than to be sorry!).
**DRESS IN LAYERS! It's always 10* colder on the airfield...plus wind!!!
**You will ride the buses to the hanger...large strollers will NOT fit on the buses and the buses are NOT
handicap accessible. Those that cannot ride the bus (because of the afore mentioned
reasons...STROLLER ISSUES ARE AS DETERMINED BY COMMAND...) must speak with Rear-D to obtain a
parking pass for the hanger lot.
**MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT FLIGHT! Units (company sized) may not fly together due to space,
so make sure that you write the flight number down! Also, check the manifest when you arrive at the
hanger. There will be Soldiers available on RSB to assist you with this.
**Make sure to arrive EARLY (normally buses will start transporting Family members 2 hours out from
'wheels down', which is the time listed on the website, if there is no other ceremony happening. If there
is a ceremony immediately prior, they will begin transporting as soon as possible). Do NOT wait until
that last 20 minutes before the plane is scheduled to land (wheels down). If the plane is early, they WILL
NOT delay deplaning and the ceremony to wait for Families (this is also why you need to make sure that
your contact information is 100% accurate!)

Here's some other great reminders about homecoming ceremonies from Fort Campbell:
Welcome Home Ceremonies will be held for all returning 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)
Soldiers.
Families and friends are welcome to attend the ceremonies.

Ceremony times will be posted at

http://www.campbell.army.mil/campbell/directorates/DPTMS/Pages/flights.aspx

Ceremony times are tentative, and may change at any time up to 2 hours before the scheduled time.
Please plan to arrive at least 2 hours prior to the ceremony start time. If you have questions about your
Soldier's specific UNIT Ceremony time, please call the point of contact listed for his/her unit.

Families with unregistered vehicles attending the Welcome Home flights for the 101st Airborne Division

should enter through Gate 7. You will be required to get a visitors pass. To get the pass, you must have
the following items: A current driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Additionally,
everyone over the age is 16 is required to have a valid photo ID (drivers license, school ID, passport, etc.)
Drivers will approach Gate 7 and inform the gate guard they are there for a welcome home ceremony,
and show the guard the documents. The guard will then issue the driver a pass.

Parking: Please follow the signs to ceremony parking. Family members and other visitors are not
permitted to park at the Welcome Home Ceremony site. Buses are available to transport Families and
visitors safely.

What to expect:

Be flexible! Our Soldiers are coming home on contracted airlines. Those flight arrival times often change,
based on weather, mechanical issues, or a variety of other issues. Flight time often changes. The
ceremony times listed on this site may change at any time. Call your unit point of contact if you have
questions or concerns.

Flights may also arrive early. You should plan to arrive at the ceremony site 2 hours before the projected
ceremony time. If flights arrive early, the ceremonies will not be delayed to wait for the arrival of family
members.

Volunteers will be on site with free beverages and snacks. If you or your children have specific dietary
needs, you will need to bring those items with you.

There are seats inside the ceremony site, providing plenty of space to wait for the flight to arrive.
Additionally, families will be allowed to go outside as the plane arrives and watch their Soldier deplane.

Members of the media are invited to each Welcome Home Ceremony. Feel free to talk to them if you
wish.

After the Soldiers deplane, they will form up outside of the facility. Soldiers will then march into the
facility for a brief (3-5 minute) ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Soldiers and families
will spend about 20 minutes together. Following that, Soldiers will go back into formation to board
buses. While they are boarding buses to go to their unit to turn in weapons and other sensitive items,
families will be briefed on reintegration issues, and then returned to their vehicles. Strip maps will be
provided, showing the location of the unit area where the Soldier can be picked up once weapons turn-
in is completed.

What not to bring:

Pets of any kind (certified guide dogs are the exception)

Weapons

Alcohol

Balloons are permitted in the hangar, but they cannot be carried onto the flight line.
