Objectives:
- Study and practice the short and long vowel sounds in order to improve the students’ speaking skills .
- Review closely the grammar of the simple present and the present continuous and make clarity about
the differences among them, when we state affirmative, negative or interrogative sentences.
- Identify useful vocabulary (time adverbs -indicators) that allow to the students to communicate easier
when using the present simple or the present progressive tense.
- Use the english language to analyze the real people’s context during the pandemic using the simple
present and the present continuous tense.
Apreciado estudiante:
A continuación, usted encontrará una guía detallada la cual está dividida en dos secciones. En primer lugar,
abordará algunos aspectos fonéticos con el fin de mejorar la producción oral en el idioma. En segundo lugar,
reconocerá los diferentes usos que puede tener el presente simple y el presente continuo. Esta guía
comprende un periodo de trabajo de 2 semanas, el cual está proyectado en 4 horas de trabajo semanales. Así
mismo, usted podrá solicitar tutorías a su docente por los canales de comunicación establecidos. Los docentes
tenemos toda la disposición de colaborarles. Los contenidos serán un reflejo de los establecido en el syllabus
de este nivel.

Learners need practice in discriminating and producing short and long vowels. Learners who are in contact
with different English accents, either in the class or outside, will hear different vowel sounds to those above,
e.g. in Australian and New Zealand English.

B. Written production: Create a story talking about the routine of a vulnerable character in
real life, choose one from the list below:

To create the story, you can use Storybird, Storyjumper or my storybook tools. Use
whichever tool you feel comfy with.
C. Oral production: With the story that you created, you are going to record a video or an
audio where you will apply the pronunciation of the short and long vowels in order to
practice and assess.
IMPORTANT:
- Remember that for evaluating each product, there is a rubric which you can consult on
Moodle platform.
- The due date for delivering “productions” is from 18th to 20th (November). After then, the
platform will NOT receive more products since it will be closed.
