CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Level Up & Vote, Board Member - Chicago, IL
June 2018 – Present
Through this coalition organization, all members seek to increase millennial voter turnout in elections and to encourage millennials to
become full participants in the political process within the state of Illinois and within the city of Chicago. We understand that there are
numerous amounts of young Black millennials who may feel as if their votes do not count or that their voice is powerless. Countless
times a vast amount of young Black millennials within the city of Chicago have ignored their voting power and each year the statistics
of Black millennial's economic, financial, health, and education system has showed little to no improvement. As a Board Member of
Level Up & Up, my role is to help create critical policy for Black people within the city of Chicago and to critically engage with Black
millennials to persuade them to become politically mature.

10x10towin, Community Coordinator Chair & Social Media Manager - Chicago, IL

April 2018 – February 2019
The city of Chicago has an estimated 650,000 registered Black voters. That is over half a million individuals – and that equals a lot of
voting power. In fact, that is far too much voting power to have so many of Chicago and Illinois citizens dissatisfied with their mayor,
their governor and many of the other aldermen, senators, commissioners and representatives that are supposed to have their best
interest at heart. That’s why we are calling every Black citizen of Chicago to action. We are calling upon you to create a voting bloc in
Chicago so powerful that every non-performing, corrupt, political saboteur will be rejected by a landslide of voters every time they run
for election or re-election. We are calling on every citizen to help meet this challenge – not one by one, but 10 by 10. As an Area
Coordinating Committee Chair for my turf, my role is to galvanize my community members to join our efforts to establish a 1 million
voter voting bloc. As the social media manager for 10xt10towin, my role is to provide up-to-date information concerning weekly
meetings, events, and to keep members engaged with policy and political issues that impact marginalized citizens in the city and state.

MU-National Alliance of Black School Educators (MU-NABSE), Publicity Chair - University of Missouri, Columbia

The Working Group, Student Leader - University of Missouri, Columbia February 2016 – April 2016
The Working Group is a joint effort between the Vice Chancellor of the Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity and student
leader’s campus wide. As a student leader, I was personally invited to join the Working Group with various student leaders to share
ideas in hopes to establish transformation of change at Mizzou. I utilized this invitation as an opportunity to build the most inclusive,
diverse and equitable Mizzou possible.

Your Voice in the Boardroom, Student Leader - University of Missouri, Columbia March 2016
As a student leader, I was invited by the University of Missouri System Board of Curators to an informational session regarding how
students’ can get their voices heard in the boardroom. The objectives of the meeting consisted of:
● How can the Student Representative to the Board of Curators best represent your voice in the
boardroom?
● What would engagement with the Board of Curators and student leaders look like?
● What qualifications would you like to see in the next UM System President?
Maxwell Little, M.Ed. CV
During this informational session I was able to contribute ideas on how students can engage with the Board of Curators; provided the
student representative to the Board of Curators with advice on how to reach out to student leaders and groups on campus who are not
traditional Student Government leaders; and provided critical suggestions on hiring qualification for the next UM system president.

The Bridge, Steering Committee Member - University of Missouri, Columbia June 2015 – August 2015
The Bridge is a safe and inclusive space for students, faculty, and professional staff to develop and expand their cultural knowledge,
awareness, and competencies within the College of Education. As a program committee member, I provided insight for the design of
The Bridge space layout including: selecting furniture, tables, and media tools to enhance the center. Provided leadership and insight on
how the center can and should be a space for all students to feel welcomed.

Cultural Awareness and Respect Symposium, Facilitator - University of Missouri, Columbia April 2015
I assisted former Assistant Director of Urban Initiatives and Customer Engagement, Stephanie Rome in facilitating the Hook Center’s
Performance Excellence Symposium titled Cultural Awareness, Respect, and Enrichment: Impacting Student Engagement and
Achievement. During this symposium I discussed how K-12 curriculum should include critical multicultural components and had
lengthy inquiry-based discussions with public and private school principals, administration and teachers in round-tables about how
equity and inclusion are carried out in K-12 curriculum.

Race Relations at Mizzou Forum, Student Leader - University of Missouri, Columbia March 2015
The Race Relations Forum was facilitated by former Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin and former Vice Chancellor Cathy Scroggs, to
discuss race relations at Mizzou. This forum was open to all Mizzou students, faculty, and staff interested in discussing race relations
and the university experience outside the classroom. During the forum I took the opportunity to address the need for critical policy
changes in order to implement diversity in curriculum. I shared how undergraduate and graduate courses across colleges and
departments should require a critical multicultural component.
