All used heads are considered to be dynamic ones. We kindly encourage the hydraulic designers to check the correctness of the
used data and comment or confirm them. If heads measured on site differ from those simulated the performance of the valve will
be affected. Maximum flow may not be achieved, cavitation may be encountered.
This solution adopts an orifice system downstream of the valve. The orifice system builds up pressure to create
favorable conditions for the control valve. P2 indicated in this simulation resembles the backpressure created by the
orifice unit. The downstream pressure of the orifice unit (P3) is the pressure available in the system. and te one
provided in your data sheet.
In this case of high flow P3 = 0,16 bar

The head loss of a valve can be calculated by means of following relation:

v2
Dp  z  r 
2
Dp ... head loss [Pa] (10 5 Pa = 1 bar)
z ... head loss coefficient (without dimensions)
r ... density of liquid [kg/m³]
v ... average flow velocity [m/s]
(referred to the valve size)

The kv value describes the water flow rate in m³/h at a temperature

of 5° to 30° C and with a pressure loss of 1 bar.
The relation between kv and the flow rate Q is:

Dp
Q  kv 
10  r  g

Dp ... pressure loss [Pa] (10 5 Pa = 1 bar)

r ... density of the medium [kg/m³]
g ... acceleration of the gravity [m/s²] (g = 9,81 m/s²)

   Sigma_Ph FCV[-] is the calculated sigma value corresponding to

the relevant operating conditions.
   Pa = inlet pressure; , Pb = intermediate pressure in the valve; and Pc = outlet pressure
   Patm : is the atmospheric pressure = 1 bar
   Pvapor: is the water vapor pressure = 0,032 bar
   V : is the mean velocity ( m/sec) in the pipe just before the control valve
