The Four Stages

of Labor
FIRST STAGE

The woman will feel


contractions and her cervix
dilates.
SECOND STAGE

The woman pushes the baby,


so the baby can go through
the birth canal and giving
birth to the baby.
THIRD STAGE

Your uterus starts to contract


following the baby's birth to push
out the placenta. Normally, the
placenta is delivered 5 to 15 minutes
after the baby arrives.
FORTH STAGE

Your infant is born, the placenta


is delivered, and you and your
wife are likely to experience joy,
relief, and fatigue.
