TEST METHOD FOR QUALIFICATION OF FERRITE CORES

SCOPE: Applicable to all types of Ferrite cores.

RESPONSIBILITY: IQC team
1. APPROVED MANUFACTURER:
Material part number shall be entered in TPS programme (DOS KT system) and the
approval of manufacturer to be conformed through Bill of material (BOM).
2. MATERIAL GRADE VERIFICATION:
Material grade shall be verified through printing on the core or test report or on
material or packaging or supplier datasheet/catalogue.
3. DIMENSIONS:
Dimensions shall be as per respective drawing / supplier data sheet / catalogue.
Suitable instrument (Digital vernier, Micrometer, Scale, Micro Vu) can be used for
measurement.
4. AL VALUE / INDUCTANCE CHECK:
Core halves to be assembled in 100turns coil and inductance shall be measured
using LCR meter. AL value to be calculated using the below formula.
AL value in nH = Inductance / Turns2
5. VISUAL INSPECTION:
 There shall be no chip-off and damages.
 There shall be no cracks.
 There shall be no burrs on edges.
 The appearance shall be good.
