NEBRASKA BAR EXAM OVERVIEW

Exam Type 2-Day UBE Exam

About Bar Exam First-Day


The written part of the exam of Nebraska bar will be held on the first day of the exam dates at
morning. It consists of the Multistate Performance Test (“MPT”) and the Multistate Essay Exam
(“MEE”). Applicant will have three hours to answer two MPT questions in the morning and 3
hours to answer the six MEE questions in the afternoon.
MPT will judge applicant’s fundamental lawyering skills. It doesn’t cover applicant substantive
knowledge. However, MEE will cover following areas: Business Associations (Corporations and
Limited Liability Companies), Criminal Law and Procedure Real Property, Torts, Contracts,
Civil Procedure, Conflict of Laws, Evidence, Constitutional Law, Family Law, Trusts and Estates
(Decedents' Estates; Trusts and Future Interests), and Uniform Commercial Code (Secured
Transactions).
MEE test requires the applicant to show an ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Second-Day
The MBE “Multistate Bar Exam” will be held on the second day of the bar exam. The MBE is a
multiple-choice test covering 200 questions. Applicant will have 3 hours to complete 100
questions in the morning and 3 hours for 100 questions in the afternoon.
The MBE tests 7 subjects: Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Evidence, Real Property,
Contracts, Criminal Law & Procedure, and Torts.

Timely filing: March-1

Late Filing: March-31

Deadlines for filling application for exam Feb 2021:

Timely filing: Nov 1 ,2020

Late Filing: Dec 1, 2020

Schedule of July Exam:

Tuesday, July 28, 2020: MPT and Essay exam.


Wednesday, July 29, 2020: MBE (Multiple choice exam).

Note: Due to COVID-19 pandemic July Exam date is subject to postponement.

Base exam fee for students and attorneys is $490.


To avoid paying a late fee the application must be forwarded and received before November
1 (for the Feb exam) or on or before March 1 (for the July exam). 

Grading The scores of the exam sections are weighted as follows:


MBE 50%;
MEE 30%, and;
MPT 20%.
MPRE required: 85
The scores are then combined to determine if the passing score of 270 has been achieved. This
equates to 135, based on the MBE’s 200-point scale.

On the MPRE a scaled score of 85 is required for admission purpose within three years before or
after passing the Nebraska Bar Exam.

Nebraska makes bar exam results available approximately five or six weeks after the exam.
Reciprocity Nebraska gives reciprocity to candidates who have either:

Already passed a test equivalent (MBE, MEE, and MPRE) to the exam administered in the
Nebraska, or who have been practicing law actively in for 5 of the 7 years in good standing
immediately preceding the application.

1. Each objective tests one subject. 2. Every Multitask bar exam subject is tested on every MBE

component may test more than one subject per essay question.
