3.5 Release gear operation 释放机构操作

The lifeboat is equipped with an emergency air supply system, which should be operated
if fire or toxic gas conditions exist outside the boat. If the air system is to be used, carry

6.2.2.1 General 概要

Repair and maintenance of G.R.P boat


Ships staff must not attempt structural repair of this lifeboat. Should the boat be damaged, it
must be removed ashore to an approved workshop with controlled a atmosphere and qualified
procedures. The approving authorities will require the original manufacturer to guarantee safety
after repair confirms the correct repair procedures.

When the gel coat of the laminate have been damaged, different types of damage to a glass fiber
boat can be repaired in different ways, the methods described below are those recommended by
manufacturer:

1. A gel coat finish may often suffer from fouling, dullness or faded color. As rules, rubbing can
restore the original finish with a fine-grade rubbing compound followed by a good over with
polishing wax. This treatment restores both the color and the glass. Rubbing can be done by
hand or with a drill, but waxing should always be done by hand.
2. Sometimes it will be found that the treatment described above is not enough, or perhaps it is
desired to paint the boat another color. In such a cases it is necessary to sandpaper the surface
down with a fine-grade sandpaper (#600 or finer) to give it a matt finish. If this should expose
pores, which have been encapsulated in the gel coat, the part concerned must be treated with
filler and re-sandpaper. The polyester filler or resin filler can be used, after sandpapering the
entire surface should be washed with a strong solvent, e.g. acetone or ethylene chloride to get
rid of such foreign bodies as silicones, bits of wax, and other contaminants which may have
penetrated the finish. After wards the whole area should be well washed with clean water.
When the preliminary work has been completed, paint of the desired color. To build up a layer,
which will afford proper protection, two coats should be applied and the first of them lightly
sand papered.
A spray gun gives the best finish, however. The boat can be used after five days.

If you paint by hand, use a brush or a short bristle roller. Smooth off immediately, using a flat
brush about 10 cm broad.

3. Damage to the gel coat finish

Sandpaper down and clean the damaged area as described in section 5.1. Use gel coat filler of
the same color or polyester filler that then has to be painted over in the appropriate color with
enamel. If a gel coat filler is used, Afterwards it should be sandpaper with fine-grained water
sandpaper, rubbed, and polished to a high gloss to bring it up to the same finish as the rest of
the boat.

4. Non-through going damage to laminates

Sandpaper the damage part and for some distance round it until you are sure that you have got
rid of all the damaged laminate. A knife and coarse-grained sandpaper can be used, but take
care not to go too far out into undamaged areas. Then laminate with places of glass fiber cut
to size and moistened with lay-up polyester to which a hardener has been added. This
operation can be carried out wet on wet until the required thickness of laminate is obtained.

5. Repairing damage where one can work from inside

The damaged part should be cut away and the opening is to be made big enough for you head
in. Use coarse-grained sandpaper and sandpaper the inside. On the outside, bevel the edged of
the hole Cut out a piece of thick cardboard, lay a piece of glass fiber thoroughly moistened
with polyester to which hardener has been added. The cardboard with the moistened glass
fiber should be stuck firmly to the inside of the hole. Drawing steel wire through the
cardboard with the laminate can do this. Once it is in place on the inside, pull it tightly up
against the hole and fasten it on the outside by means of two bits of wood as shown in
Figure—11, and Figure---12. When this has set, cut off the wires and insert pieces of glass

fiber cut into size and thoroughly moistened with polyester to which hardener has been added.
When sufficient glass fiber has been applied to bring the thickness up to that of the laminate,
the whole patch must be allowed to set. Sandpaper down 0.5-1.0mm and continue the repair
according the section 3. It is important that all work involving polyester is performed in dry
and warm weather (minimum temperature: +16℃) Damp and cold retard curing and may
even stop it completely.

6. Through going damage which can be repaired from both sides. Cut a hole found the damage

something similar with cellophane inwards.

Start laminating with a piece of glass fiber, which is slightly, layer in the hole itself. Then use
pieces of glass fiber cut to the appropriate size. For lamination use lay-up polyester with the
accelerator already mixed in and adds 1% hardener just before use. This gives you 20 to 30
minutes in which to do the work. Wet the glass fiber wells with the polyester mixture and uses a
brush to get rid of all the air trapped in the laminate.

Make sure that the first layer everywhere fits closely to the cellophane and the rest of the
damaged part. When the laminate is of the desired thickness, allow it to cure. Once it has cured,
over laminate it with two layers of glass fiber, which are twice the size of the hole, to strengthen
the damaged area. Then remove the plywood and sandpaper down about 0.3-1.0mm. Afterwards,
carry on as per section 3.

玻璃钢艇维护修补工艺

1、 玻璃钢的胶衣常被弄污,失去光泽而腿色,处理方法是先用高标号水磨砂纸水磨而
后用上光蜡抛光,便会恢复到原来的表面质量。

2、 有时上述处理还不令人满意,或你想把艇喷为另一种色彩,这时需要用 600#或更细
的水磨砂纸水磨艇表面,若胶衣层有缺陷暴露出来,应深磨,并用树脂腻子填平该区
域,打磨后用丙酮等强溶剂擦洗整个表面异物,用适当颜色的聚氨脂漆喷涂表面即可。
(连续喷二度则效果更佳)。

3、胶衣面破损的修补按上述方法打磨并清洗破损区域用同色的胶衣腻子填塞,待其固化
后用细水磨砂纸湿磨至达到要求后抛光至其它表面相同的光洁程度。

4、 破损至表面的糊层修补:用锉刀,粗砂纸打磨破损处及其附近区域,除掉所有破损
糊层,保留未损部分,用大小适当的玻璃毡(布)和加有固化剂的树脂糊制处理区域,
糊制可连续进行,直至达到所需厚度,固化后将凸出部位的毛刺打磨掉,刷上与原表
面相同色彩的胶衣树脂,待胶衣树脂固化后用细水磨砂纸进行湿磨抛光至与其它表面
相同的光洁程度。(见图 9 和 图 10.)

5、 孔洞的双面修补:沿破损处割一孔洞,将破损糊制层全部除掉(见图 1),此项工作
应自艇内部进行破损处除掉后,将孔洞边缘锉为斜面(见图 2),为避免前后的大量打
磨,并为自己提供一“模具”便于操作,或用一块类似于三合板的东西盖在孔的外面,

用不干胶面向里固定之(见图 3),糊制时首先用一块比孔洞稍大一点的玻璃毡,其后
采用大小相当的玻璃毡(布),所有树脂应含有促进剂和固化剂,在玻璃毡(布)浸透
树脂后刷子挤出所含气泡(见图 4)务使第一层毡同三合板及破损区域紧紧结合在一起,
当糊制层达到所需厚度,使其自然固化,固化后加糊两层两倍于孔洞的玻璃毡,以加
强破损区域,然后去掉三合板,将糊制层打磨掉 0.3-1.0mm(见图 5)以下按 5.4.3 所
述方法继续操作。

6、 从内部无法接近的破损修补:除去破损部分加大开口使手足以方便通过用粗砂纸进
行内部打磨,外部将开口边缘锉斜,割出一块比开口稍大与纸板材料接近的板,把一
块玻璃毡置于该板之上,用加有促进剂和固化剂的树脂浸透,通过拉动钢丝把带胶毡
的纸板贴到开口的内表面,然后把钢丝束紧在外部两横杆上,以固定纸板(见图 6,7)
固化后,剪掉钢丝,填入一定尺寸的玻璃毡(布)并用加有促进剂和固化剂的树脂胶
净透之,当糊制厚度达到开口处壁厚时,使其整体进行固化,打磨掉 0.5-1mm 即按 3.5.3
所述方法继续修补至达到其它表面相同的光洁程度。

Directions for use SD battery charger 512-2

1. Always disconnect 42VAC (mains) before connecting/disconnecting batteries.


2. Connect the red cable to the positive terminal and the black cable to the negative terminal.
Then connect 42 VAC mains and check that the diode indications, as described bellow, are
normal.
Red: Failure, no battery connection, wrongs polarity or short-circuited battery cables.
Yellow: Charging, end voltage 14.0±0.1 Volts per battery.
Green: Battery full, trickle charge (float charge) 13.2±0.1Volts per battery.
3. Maintenance: All batteries should be checked monthly for maximum security. Keep batteries
fully charged. In case that the battery has not been charged for a long time and its
self-discharge is below two volt. Please under the normal charging status, disconnect any of
the red and black lines in the output end of the battery set for more than two minutes and then
plug in, you can resume normal work or replace the battery.

Troubleshooting
1. This unit includes an automatic protection circuit, in which a control signal from the inside of
the batteries prohibits any output at the terminals before the battery charger is connected with
the batteries. The battery charger provides the charging current and voltage only if its
terminals are connected well with the batteries.
2. The red light is on. This is usually caused by no battery connection, wrong polarity or
short-circuited battery cables. Make sure the charger is correctly connected with the batteries.
3. The green light is not on (the batteries are not fully charged) after charging for a long time.
First, ensure that the input voltage is correct. Then, make sure the charger is well connected
with the batteries.

4. Warning: Do not reverse the input and output terminals!


5. The instrument automatically charges the battery with self-protection. The charge/discharge
operation is performed adaptively to prolong the cycle life of the battery. The instrument
should be kept in connection with power supply, without the requirement of monitoring.

Caution:
GASSING: Explosive oxyhydrogen gas is formed during the charging process. It ignites very
easily--a small spark is enough. Never smoke or use bare flames near the batteries.
ACID: The battery electrolyte is acidic and corrosive. It damages human skin, fabrics,
metal, and paint, etc. If the electrolyte is spilled, it should immediately be washed
off with plenty of water. In case the electrolyte gets into the eyes, immediately rinse
with water and/or consult a doctor.
POISON: Lead and some chemical agents used in batteries are very poisonous. Always wash
hands thoroughly after working with batteries.

2、 Release Mechanism Test

2.1 The hook to be released at empty condition and make the boat to be floated at the water, the
fore & aft hook and its rope to be pulled closely then release the lifting unit and make fore
and aft hook to be released simultaneously.
2.2 The fore and aft hook release mechanism test to be carried out with 10%overload condition
the boat to be loaded with kgs lifting boat to make the keel boat just left the water
surface, then to release the lifting unit and make the fore and hook to be released
simultaneously.
2.3 The boat will do above mentioned test again under 10% overload condition with 10% of
heeling the fore and aft hook should be released simultaneously

3、Release device connection and boat implant connecting strength test (2 times rated load)

The connection of each release gear which is fixed to the boat should be subjected to a load
equal to the weight of the boat with its full complement of persons and equipment, there should
be no damage to the release gear or its connection to the boat.

4、Operation Test And Trial Speed Measurement

4.1 Start test: the engine should be carried out three times of electric starting test, if fitted with a
manual starting system, it should be tested.

4.2 Trial test : the boat should manoeuvred for a period of at least 2 h under the full load
condition, the engine should run in Pass condition, the gearing device and steering device
should also be tested, the change from ahead to astern should be convenient and the steering
device should be operated agilely.
4.3 The speed measurement: the boat to be required make round trip three times at flat water will
fully loaded condition and to measure the average value to be not less than 6 knots.

5、Emergency Steering Test

Manoeuvre the boat using emergency steering system, it should be agile and reliable.

6、 Hull Water-Tightness Test

The boat is floated in the water for 2 hours, and should have no leakage.

7、Hose Test For Windows And Doors

The hose test should be carried out by means of house gun with 1kg/cm2 pressure and the
distance between gun and boat is not more than three meters, the windows、doors and covers
should have no leakage.

8、Bailing Test

The boat to be waterborne, bailing test carried out by using manual pump.

9、Lighting Test

The position-indicating light、cabin lights and searchlight should be function tested with
satisfactory.

10、Battery Re-Charging Test

Recharging of al engine starting, ratio and search light batteries to be tested.

11、Water Spray Test

The boat to be waterborne, water spray test to be carried out, in the condition of an angle 5°
with for., aft., right., left keel.

12、Check Air-Supply System

12.1.Open the valve of the air bottle , Check the gas-tightness of the pipes.
12.2 Check the pressure gauge, the reading should be more than 19Mpa.

1. LUBRICATIO OIL SPECIFICATION (380J-3)


In order to prolong working time and promote the engine reliable, the engine should choose
and use standard GB1112<Diesel oil> class CD or above. Following table is recommendation
based on amibient temperature.

The temperatures mentioned in the table are the ambient temperatures at the time when the
engine is started.

As lifeboat engine, 10W/30 can be recommended for engines running at a ambient temperature
-15°~ 30°.
