CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1. General

This Material Test Report is prepared by RCC Lab Ltd. for the
construction of GHORASAL POLASH UREA FERTILIZER
PROJECT (GPUFP) at Polash , Narsingdi .

1.2. Objectives

Main objective of this test is to investigate the properties of the materials (Coarse
Aggregate, Fine Aggregate etc.) used in this project.

1.3. Project Description:

Project Name : GHORASAL POLASH UREA FERTILIZER PROJECT (GPUFP)

Project Type : Lean Concrete

Specified Compressive Strength f'c : 2250psi

Required Average Compressive Strength f'cr : 3250psi

Coarse Aggregate Type : Stone Chips

Fine Aggregate Type : Sylhet Sand

Cement Type : CEM Type-II/BM (PCC)

Admixture Type : NA

Other Requirement : NA

1.4 Materials Test Type

Materials Name Test Name Test Standard
Coarse Aggregate (Stone Sieve Analysis/Gradation ASTM C136
Chips) Specific Gravidity ASTM C127
Unit Weight ASTM C29

Fine Aggregate (Sylhet Sieve Analysis/FM ASTM C136

Sand) Specific Gravidity ASTM C127
Unit Weight ASTM C29

CHAPTER 2: METHODOLOGY

2.1 Test Methodology

All materials and concrete test perform according to American Society for Testing
and Materials (ASTM) & American Concrete Institute (ACI).

2.2 Sample Preparation

Coarse aggregate, Fine Aggregate and Cement were collected from the project
site. Here stone chips provided as coarse aggregate and sylhet sand was provided as
fine aggregate. CEM Type-II/BM which means PCC cement provided as binder. No
admixture provided from the project site. Here sieves analysis, Gradation, FM,
Specific Gravidity & Unit Weight test were performed for both Coarse & Fine
Aggregate. Using this material test result value trail mix is performed to determine
concrete fresh & hardened properties.

CHAPTER 3: TEST RESULT & DISCUSSION:

3.1 Sieve Analysis of Coarse Aggregate:

As we see gradation curve stay inside the standard curve and it is a not well graded curve
so this coarse aggregate is not satisfying the ASTM standard. Required extra 12mm size
aggregate

3.2 Specific Gravidity of CA:

Sample Course Aggregate Bulk Specific Gravidity found 2.58 which is good.

3.4 FM of Fine Aggregate

Sample Average FM is 3.13 which means sample is Coarse Sand.

3.5 Specific Gravidity of Fine Aggregate

Average Specific Gravidity of Fine Aggregate in SSD condition is 2.46.

3.6 Unit Weight of Fine Aggregate

Sample Bulk unit weight is 1459.07.10 kg/m3. & Dry rodded Unit weight 1600kg/m3

3.7 Absorption Capacity of Fine Aggregate

Absorption Capacity of sample is 1.60%.

3.8 Cement Setting Time

Test is not Performed.

4.1 Proposed Mix Design

CHAPTER: 5 CONCLUSION

Analyzing sample of coarse & fine aggregate test result it is found both coarse & fine
aggregate quality is good.

CHAPTER: 6 RECOMMENDATION
a) Use test result value for mix design.
b) As proposed project need trail mix should be performed before main casting.
