Guidance Services promote the

Services
holistic development of students by providing on-going
prevention and intervention services and offering them various activities that will enhance their
academic, personal, social and career development.

This is a service that involves the systematic recording of

information through cumulative records and psychological tests
administered to students. These are tools used to identify reasons
for student difficulties, which are treated with strict confidentiality.

This is the heart of the guidance program which aims to facilitate

the student’s self-understanding, acceptance, and total personal
development.

This service is aimed at helping group/s of students develop

healthy relationships with each other by enhancing their
understanding of individual differences, and how each of one of
them can be of help to each group member as well as to other
members of the community.

Counseled students are checked from time to time, in order to

assess their activities and progress.

This service directs the office to tap professionals (e.g.

psychologist; psychiatrist; social workers; etc.), agencies, and
organizations that may be of better assistance in the counselee’s
resolution of the problems. Roster of Referral Resources within and
outside school is made available to ensure the effective
implementation of the referral system.

Page 5
This is focused on providing students with vocational and career
information, to keep themselves updated with current demands
and trends related to their courses, which eventually guides them in
making plans after graduation.

This service intends to advise students regarding their potentials,

inclinations, and personality traits identified through different tests
administered to them for evaluation purposes. They are therefore
properly guided in planning their careers and their future.

This is a mutual sharing and analysis of information with the

stakeholders- administration, faculty, and parents to solicit
schemes on how to further assist the counselee and to facilitate
decision-making.

Different researches and studies on guidance-related areas are

initiated to ensure that guidance services are properly guided in
planning their careers and their future.

This is one of the goals of the Guidance Counseling and Health

Office (GCHO) and the basis for many of the services and
activities offered by the GCHO program. Also, this services
promotes lifestyle change for healthy living.

Counseling Environment: Demographic
Differences Among Private Higher
Education-based Generation Z

Authors:
Olive M. Calingan, RGC, RPm, LPT
Rina R. Olan, RGC, LPT
Mary Joy M. Garcia, RPm

The researchers used a descriptive-evaluative and descriptive-

comparative design in the study. The researchers used adopted

personality test, Big Five Inventory (BFI), a 44-item inventory that

measures an individual on the Big Five Factors (dimensions) of

personality. Furthermore, the study used a 64-item researcher-

made questionnaire for preferred counseling environment and

problems encountered. Respondents of the study were 348 college

students randomly selected from private schools in Lipa City. The

data gathered were analyzed using t-test and analysis of variance

(ANOVA). It revealed that majority of the respondents are female

and from University of Batangas Lipa City. Generation Z is

considered open to experiences, and they preferred counselors

with pleasing personality and sense of humor. It was also revealed

that there was no significant difference observed (gender: t-

value=0.94, p-value= 0.66; school: f-value=1.89, p-value=0.11) and

implies that the responses do not vary across the respondents’

profile. Problems were obvious in the academic and career domain

of the respondents. This study had a great impact on the

counselling field in handling their counselees.
