Main Chip Introduction
MSD3393LB is a highly integrated TV SoC solution for ATSC digital television
platform. Integrating latest advanced technologies from Mstar Semiconductor,
the world leading TV SoC provider in TV industry, MSD3393LB provides the
most cost‐efficient solution for multimedia TV application with creative and
attractive features exclusively presented.
In order to achieve the lowest BOM cost in a multi‐media TV platform,
MSD3393LB integrates DTV, ATSC/QAM demodulator, TV/multi‐media all‐
purpose AV decoder, VIF demodulator, and advanced Sound/Video processors
into a single device. This not only reduce the overall BOM significantly, but also
facilitates the design of originally –complicated TV systems for developers. In
addition, the memory‐embedded solution provided by MSD3393LB can reduce
the excessive work of memory interface routing on board and the risk of
memory performance degradation while powering cost‐down in the total
system.

Main Chip Introduction
The powerful multimedia A/V decoder inside MSD3393LB is hosted with a
dedicated hardware video codec engine to secure fast and stable video streaming
playback. Moreover, MSD3393LB is equipped with a DSP specifically designated
for audio application, including digital audio format decoding and advanced sound
effects, and a high performance RISC CPU to manipulate all possible routines and
house‐keeping activities. With extendable USB2.0 interface, an MSD3393LB based
system can turn into a high quality media‐center in a simple manner.
For standard users, the MSD3393LB provides multi‐standard analog TV support
with adaptive 3D video decoding and VBI data extraction. The built‐in audio
decoder is capable of decoding FM, AM, A2, BTSC and EIA‐J sound standards.
MSD3393LB also supplies all the necessary A/V inputs and outputs to complete a
receiver design including HDMI receivers and component video ADCS. All input
selection multiplexers for video and audio are integrated, including full SCART
support with CVBS output. The equipped Mstar MstarACE‐6 color engine is the
latest masterpiece of Mstar technologies, providing excellent video and picture
quality in Full‐HD and large‐scale display system. MSD3393LB also supports an
ultra low power standby mode to meet the latest energy legislative requirements
without any additional hardware.

Unit Circuit Analysis and Testing(Tuner)
IIC
If the you run the channel scan and can find none channel,
do as below
1.Check signal from the cable, is there any signal?
2.Check the power supply for the Tuner, is it normal?
3.Check IIC of the tuner, is it normal?
4.Check VIFN_IN/VIFP_IN, are there any signal?
5.Check the software or update it

Reset Circuit have AC on and off reset. High Level reset.
When the TV is AC on, the voltage of both side of C711 are the same at the beginning , and because
R712 is much bigger than R711, so Q711 turns on, the voltage of MCU_RESET is High, TV reset. At the
same time, C711 and C712 are charging, and C712 gets full much early than C711, when C711 is
full ,the voltage difference between PIN B and PIN E of Q501 will be less than 0.7V, Q711 turns off, the
voltage of MCU_RESET is Low, TV will not reset.
When the main Power 24/12V gets lower than 17.8V/8.3V , the voltage of Q712’s PIN B will lower than
2.6V, while the voltage of PIN E is 3.3V, then Q712 will turn on, the voltage of MCU_RESET is high, TV
reset. As the same reason, when the main Power is turned off, Q712 turns on , TV reset.

When the PANEL_ON/OFF is high
level, Q602 will turn on, then the
Q601 will turn on. If PANEL_ON is
high level but no power for the
PANEL_VCC ,check Q602 and Q601,

DC‐DC of 24V/12V to 5V
B
The DCDC UD6 is just like a switch with a very high frequency. The Caps in point A are for
filter and keeping the current . The output in point B is a PWM waveform, because the
current can’t change from a certain value to zero immediately, so there must be a diode
DD3. Using a LC filter (LD6 and the Cap)we change the PWM into a certain voltage. And
the duty ratio is a key parameter.
Vout=PWM duty ratio * Vin
The PWM duty ratio is determined by the voltage of point C, and point C is also a
feedback circuit .
46
Waveform of I²C Bus Line as below
Normally, the waveform of I²C bus line always
fluctuate between 0 to 3.3v. If the voltage fixed
on 3.3v or 0v, it means working abnormal.
We could open the VGA, HDMI or other I²C bus
line devices to find which device has the
problem.
