FOREWORD
I
tIt’s nearly nine years since we arrived
on the tabletop scene with a mad mash-
up of Cthulhu and World War Two which
would become our flagship game Achtung!
Cthulhu. Since then our little family business
has grown from myself and Rita in a basement
flat to over 40 people working full time across
so many incredible games, and not to forget
another 100 plus freelancers doing the writing,
art, editing, layout and much more to support
the team. We wanted to show you what
we’ve been up to and what’s to come. These
incredible games exist thanks to the support of
all of you, both old and new friends from across
the world.

This year we got our resin factory in Cornwall


up to steam to produce the Elder Scrolls Call to
Arms resin miniatures, yes and we keep getting
cool ideas for all the things we could make…

With Covid looming over us we’ve had our


heads down focusing on developing the Dune
and Fallout 2d20 roleplaying games, alongside
a lot of new solo-focused content for our
miniatures games. I’m personally excited that
Achtung! Cthulhu is returning to the tabletop
with a new 2d20 edition featuring all-new art
and lots of expanded content.

December sees us hosting our contribution to the online gaming calendar with MODcon kicking off
alongside the UK’s Dragonmeet online convention. There will be actual plays of the Dune and Fallout 2d20
RPGs, panels by the Modiphius team, and a big line up of special guests who’ll be teaching us all how to be
the best-GM-ever, no matter what RPGs you play. We know many of you can find it hard to find people to
play with online and so we’re partnering with some amazing organisations to connect you with awesome
GMs, RPG and wargame players. We hope you’ll join in the fun, and make some amazing new friendships

Since we started Modiphius we’ve been helping smaller creators and publishers get their games out
there, and this year we’ve discovered a lot of great talent so we decided to make this a proper thing.

Once we had answered when and where, the next


question is who. Who are the player characters
going to be? We knew the player characters would
have to serve the same faction, and so we decided
it should be a noble House. It’s a great way to
create a party of characters and still allow each
player the freedom to create the character they
like. While we might have focused on just the Bene
Gesserit or the Fremen, that would have been a
little limiting. However, we’ve made sure all those
types of characters are available. On Arrakis, every
loyal agent is valuable, and those with special skills
are even more so.

The other advantage of linking the player characters


through a noble House is that in a sense it becomes
another character they all create and share. We
could have used one of the canon Houses like the
Atreides or Harkonnen. While it would be exciting
to interact with the canon characters, their histories
are so well-detailed it doesn’t leave much room
for change. So we decided it was best to allow the
players and gamemaster to create the noble House
together. This also offers a great way for the whole
group to decide on the sort of game they want to
run. A group that creates a military House is looking
for an action-oriented game, whereas a group
creating an espionage House is probably looking for
intrigue and deadly plots.

So that’s where we’ve begun; agents of a noble
