Let’s Make a Video! sketch
To be used after Pupil’s Book lesson 5 or 7
Warm up
• Explain to the children that they are going to watch a sketch
about technology.
• Say to the children Listen to my clue and say the name of
the item: you can listen to music on it. Invite the children to
answer (MP3 player).
• Continue with the items which are mentioned in the sketch –
mobile (phone), laptop, games console, DVD.
Watch and answer the question.
• Ask the children to watch the sketch. Write the question on
the board for them to answer as they watch:
Who wants to play hide and seek?
• Say Let’s watch the DVD and answer the question.
Play the DVD. Children watch, and answer the question at
the end of the sketch.

• Give out the worksheet. Say Let’s watch the DVD, and
order. Hold up your worksheet.
• Play the DVD. Children watch, and number the pictures.
• Pause the DVD whenever the characters give information
on the worksheet, to give the children time to number. When
the sketch has finished, check the answers with the children.

player, 5 laptop
1b Draw lines and write the names.
• Hold up your worksheet. Point to the pictures of the
items and ask What’s this?
• The children draw lines from the items to the labels, then
write the names.

2 Watch and complete the sentences.
Match.
• Hold up the worksheet and say Let’s watch and
complete the sentences. Check the children understand
what they should write.
• Play the DVD.
• Pause the DVD whenever necessary. Ask the class for
the answer, then give them time to write.
• When the sketch has finished, check the answers with the
children.
• Finally, the children match the sentences to Tilly or Tom.

3 Order the instructions. Watch and check.
• Hold up your worksheet. Tell the children to order the
movie instructions.

• You just switch it on, unlock it, then you click on the camera
icon, then the movie camera icon and then finally you make
your movie.
And finally …
• Children play How do I …? in pairs or groups, using the
items in exercise 1. Pupil A chooses an item and asks How
do I (listen to music)? and Pupil B gives instructions for an
MP3 player.
• Then the pupils change roles.
DVD Project
• Here’s an idea for an extra activity. The children do a
class survey on technology. The children write down a list
of items and practise the question What’s your favourite
technology item?
• They ask the questions and tick on their list when others
answer.
• Finally, they create a graph of the results.

Warm up
• Ask the children What technology items can you name?
Invite different children to answer.
• Ask the children What’s your favourite item? Ask how they
use the item.
Watch and count.
• Explain to the children that the characters are investigating
different topics. They are going to watch footage about
technology. Ask the children to write the names of different
technology items.
• Say Let’s watch the DVD and count. Play the DVD.
Children watch, and count the items.

• Play the DVD.
