This seminar report discusses 4D printing technology. 4D printing involves printing with smart materials that can respond to external stimuli, integrating the dimension of time. Recent advances in smart materials, printers, deformation mechanisms, and modeling have expanded the feasibility of 4D printing. 4D printed materials could be used to build structures like bridges and shelters that build or repair themselves in response to weather damage. Future applications of 4D printing include uses in the aerospace industry for self-deploying structures, air ventilation, and engine cooling. Airbus is working with 4D printing to develop temperature-responsive engine cooling solutions.

ABSTRACT In Manufacturing Industry we are introducing innovative technology advancement for make easy & flexible uses of smart materials. Smart materials are defined as materials that senses and react to environmental conditions or stimuli (e.g., mechanical, chemical, electrical, or magnetic signals). Recent advances in additive manufacturing, commonly known as three-dimensional (3D)-printing, have allowed researchers to create complex shapes previously impossible using traditional fabrication methods.
A research branch that originated from 3D-printing called four-dimensional (4D)-printing
involves printing with smart materials that can respond to external stimuli. 4D-printing permits the creation of on-demand dynamically controllable shapes by integrating the dimension of time. Recent achievements in synthetic smart materials, novel printers, deformation mechanism, and mathematical modeling have greatly expanded the feasibility of 4D-printing. So, instead of using 3D printed materials, 4D printed materials could be used to take advantage of their transformable shape. They could provide the solution to build bridges, shelters or any kind of installations, as they would build up themselves or repair themselves in case of weather damage. Future scope of 4D Printing Technologies in Aerospace Industry and solar industries also.4D printing technology will be used in the aerospace industry to make self-deploying structures, for air ventilation, engine cooling and various other similar uses. Airbus S.A.S. is already working with 4D printing technology to develop a solution that will cool its engines depending on temperature.
