Pump Trouble Shooting
Expe r ts in C he m - Fe e d a nd Wa t e r Tre a t m e nt

• No Metering although drive is running

– Stroke setting to 0%
– Supply tank empty
– Air locked in suction line and liquid end

• Loss of Capacity
– Wearing parts in valves defective
– Deposits in valves

• No metering during initial operation

– Suction head too high
– Back pressure at injection point too high

• Chemical leaking from drain hole of back

plate
– Diaphragm rupture

Pump Trouble Shooting Suction Side
Expe r ts in C he m - Fe e d a nd Wa t e r Tre a t m e nt

• Air leaks in suction line

• Suction line diameter too small
• Suction line too long
• Suction line does not rise vertically
• Fluid releases gases
• Suction lift too high
• High density of fluid
• Low atmospheric pressure
• Fluid temperature too high
• Foot valve strainer plugged
• Tank not vented Important !
Ensure arrow marks on the suction
valve points towards the dosing head

Pump Trouble Shooting Discharge Side
Expe r ts in C he m - Fe e d a nd Wa t e r Tre a t m e nt

• Pressure at injection point higher than

pump discharge pressure

• Back pressure valve set higher than

pump’s pressure

• Inconsistent back pressure (pressure

fluctuation at injection point)

• Discharge line too long

• Discharge line diameter too small

• Excessive friction loss from elbows,

tees and valves
Important !
Ensure arrow marks on the discharge
valve points away from the dosing head
