Comparing Two Sets of Data

1) Jenna has been conducting a survey to find out how many hours of TV pupils watch. Jenna
asked a random sample of fifteen Year 7 pupils and fifteen Year 13 pupils how many hours
they spend watching TV each day. The results are shown in the bar charts below.

a. Find the mean and range for Year 7 pupils. mean: 1.93 hours range: 3 hours
b. Find the mean and range for Year 13 pupils. mean: 1.03 hours range: 2.5 hours
c. Briefly comment on how the two sets of data compare.
Year 7 watch more TV on average each day, although wider spread of results.
2) Here are two sets of data for the actual weights of a sample of two different brands that sell
2 litre drinks. Which brand would you rather buy and why?

(63.1 secs)) they have a much larger range (11.6 secs) so therefore they are less consistent.
