Reflection Paper

(Topic 7: The Church as God’s Comforter and Consoler: The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
as God’s Healing through Love, Care and Concern)

From this topic, I have learned that the healing of Jesus is also the time where we
experience the relief or comfort in our lives. No one should suffer alone. We have to take care
those who are feeling sick not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Like Jesus, we have to be men and women for others. The blessing we’ve received from God, we
have to share it from others. We need to continue what Jesus has begun – giving love and service
for others. I have also learned that, us, Christians, were considered as wounded healers. We are
created in order to help one another to become whole again as persons. We can do this help by
showing our active and sincere love, care, and concern for others.

I have also learned that our faithfulness to Christ’s commands affects the health of the
body of Christ. In other words, if we care for others, the church will grow in maturity and unity
in Christ. If you know that there is a need, volunteer to help. Even if you are not able to do too
much physically, every little bit helps and will mean a lot to them. If the need is great, speak with
other in the church to help mobilize a team of helpers. The most important thing to do is, we
need to pray not just for ourselves but also for others. When this is consistently practiced, many
of the other aspects of care will fall right into place.
