Quarantined migrants trigger panic

TNN | May 12, 2020, 01.03 PM IST

LUCKNOW: Panic gripped residents of Amethi village under Gosainganj police station on Monday after a few migrant workers
who were under 21-day home quarantine after their return from Telangana were found buying essentials from the local market.

Locals said that 14 migrant workers, all residents of Amethi village, had come from Telengana on their own.

Nine had test reports confirming they were negative to novel coronavirus infection. All were home quarantined but three out of
five who had not undergone corona test were seen in the local market.

Executive officer in city development department Anil Singh, in charge of tracking migrants in the area, said all 14 workers were
home quarantined and notices were pasted outside their house about their status. He said five workers in question have been
shifted to quarantine centres made in houses constructed under PM Awas Yojana.
