PAGE1: INT. LIBRARY. CATACOMBS. NIGHT.
1: The Gaslamp brothers stand inside a round chamber with
sever corridors leading off of it. Erique is standing over a
table rummaging though a large leather bag. Gerome is stood
behind him facing the opposite direction.
GEROME GASLAMP
found it yet?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
oh yes that’s a great idea annoy
the man who will more than likely
save your life tonight
2: Gerome looks over his shoulder back towards his brother.

GEROME GASLAMP
save my life? what do you think we
are going up against? it’s not
exactly powerful now is it?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
that’s besides the- there we go
3: Erique straightens up. Gerome steps up behind him,
peering over his shoulder.
GEROME GASLAMP
that’s it?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
this little brother is going to
make all the difference...

PAGE 2:
1: Erique is standing almost heroically, holding a small
scanning device. Gerome is behind him holding his
blunderbuss. Behind the both of them sticking out of the
wall is the ghostly figure of a beautiful woman.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
with this device we will be out of
here in an hour!
 2.

PAGE 3:
1: Erique begins fiddling with his ghost catcher device.
Gerome leans into his brother and peeks at it. The ghostly
figure moves along the wall closer towards them.

GEROME GASLAMP
so what exactly does it do?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
the intricacies of the device as
far too complex for your simpleton
intellect so I shall explain in a
way you should comprehend... its a
ghost catcher!
2: Gerome snaps his head round to where the ghost was. It is
disappearing into the wall. Erique is still fiddling with
his device.
GEROME GASLAMP
huh!

ERIQUE GASLAMP
once all the bugs are worked out
and a more streamlined design is
developed I will of cause rename
it. Might even name its units of
measurement. Erique’s possibly

3: Gerome is now fully turned towards the last known

position of the ghost, his gun at the ready. Erique
continues his monologue.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

say old bean how many "Erique’s" is
the machine showing now? five
hundred "Erique’s." "Cubic
Erique’s!" yes that has a nice ring
to it

GEROME GASLAMP
umm Erique? is that thing on?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
of cause it’s on!

4: Erique turns to his brother who is searching the gloom in

front of him. The ghost appears behind the two of them once
more. this time out of the ceiling.

GEROME GASLAMP
are you sure?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
yes I am positive that it’s on! now
will you stop messing about and be
serious-
5: Erique returns to the opposite direction and quickly
turns the device on. it emits a soft blue light. Gerome
adjusts the position of his blunderbuss trying to stay
alert. The ghost once again has disappeared into the
structure of the building.
SFX: click!
GEROME GASLAMP
so what does it say? how many
"Erique’s" is it showing?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
it’s errm- it’s

6: Gerome continues to search the darkness around them.

Erique points directly in front of them.
GEROME GASLAMP
it’s broken isn’t it?

ERIQUE GASLAMP
no it’s not broken! it just needs a
few moments to warm up, adjust to
the ambient errm- it says we should
go this way

PAGE 4:
1: Gerome follows his brother as they make their way down
one of the narrow paths leading off from the chamber. The
Ghost watches them from the rear.

GEROME GASLAMP
some machine this is, I’m telling
you that you don’t need a fancy
contraption when looking for
ghosts, all you need is a keen eye
and a-
ERIQUE GASLAMP
if you say large gun I’ll take it
off of you

2: The corridor narrows as they make their way though it.

Gerome is beginning to hunch over to squeeze though.

GEROME GASLAMP
I’d like to see you try little one!
and I wasn’t going to say a gun,
you don’t need a weapon
ERIQUE GASLAMP
oh not the magic charms again, come
on Gerry you got duped by that old
hag let it go
3: Gerome turns to look behind him once more. The ghost
appears between the brothers who are still unaware of its
presence.
GEROME GASLAMP
they work, remember the Selkie?
those charms worked then

ERIQUE GASLAMP
hardly, she just didn’t like the
look of you is all, and besides she
wasn’t trying to eat us. She was
just annoying the locals

4: The ghost slips though the wall once more. Letting out a
light laugh as she does. Both brothers stop instantly.
GHOST GIRL
hehe!

GEROME GASLAMP
you hear that?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
got something in front of us, not
very strong though
5: Gerome pulls his pistol from the holster on his thigh.
Replacing his blunderbuss into it’s shoulder holster. Erique
leans in closer to the device watching the screen.

GEROME GASLAMP
going to have to get some light
down here, I can barely see you as
it is
ERIQUE GASLAMP
keep it low, don’t want to lose it
6: Gerome grabs the lamp swinging by his side. Attached to
an over the shoulder strap.

going for a number five filter just

PAGE 5: INT. CATACOMBS. CENTRAL CHAMBER. NIGHT.

1: Erique stops moving taps the device in frustration.
Gerome turns on his lamp lightly illuminating the space in
front of them.

SFX: clik-fum
ERIQUE GASLAMP
damn it all!
GEROME GASLAMP
what? what is it?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
it’s gone, the signal isn’t there
any more

2: Gerome steps next to Erique and reaches for the device.

Erique moves it out of his reach.
GEROME GASLAMP
give it here I’ll fix it

ERIQUE GASLAMP
you shall do no such thing you ape!
GHOST GIRL
hehe...

3: Gerome moves his lamp searching for the sound. Both he

and Erique look frightened.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
there it is again

GEROME GASLAMP
pipe down and get your damnable
machine working before we lose it
again!

4: Erique begins fiddling with the dials and switches on the

device. Gerome holds up his pistol next to the lamp ready to
fire.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
I can’t figure out whats wrong, it
was working a second ago. Bloody

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

contraption I made you, you power
down when I say so
GEROME GASLAMP
you realise you are talking to a
box with a dish on it?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
and you are aiming a gun at a
spectre so who is the most moronic?

5: The device lights up again, several dots appear on the

display. Gerome and Erique both stare at the read out.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
there we ah- that’s not right there
weren’t that many before
GEROME GASLAMP
this is the last time you bring
something you haven’t tested first

ERIQUE GASLAMP
I’m field testing it now aren’t I?
GEROME GASLAMP
I swear I’ll leave you down here

6: Behind the two brothers the ghost appears once more, she
smiles sweetly as she floats silently. Erique turns his head
towards the screen once more as something catches his eye.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
you wouldn’t dare you- whats that?
GHOST GIRL
hehe!
GEROME GASLAMP
it’s behind us...
7: The ghost floats to the left as the brothers turn to the
right looking for the source of the sound.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
do you still have your gun?
GEROME GASLAMP
yeah it’s right here- wait you
said.

GHOST GIRL
hehe...

8: The brothers snap back around to find the ghost floating

directly in front of them, she smiles like an excited child.
GEROME GASLAMP
huh!

ERIQUE GASLAMP

PAGE 6:

1: Erique looks genuinely terrified as he looks upon the

ghost girl. Gerome has a quizzical look on his face as he
stares at the ghost.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
*Gerry... hurry up and do
something*
GEROME GASLAMP
errm
2: the ghost girl floats closer towards Gerome and runs her
faint hand down his cheek. Gerome smiles as she does.
GHOST GIRL
hehe

GEROME GASLAMP
heh, hi
ERIQUE GASLAMP
*what’re you doing you mad man?*

3: Gerome and the Ghost lock eyes as she floats even closer.
His smile has evolved into a grin. Erique begins to rummage
inside his jacket.
GEROME GASLAMP
I’m not mad, how could I be mad?
look at here. It wasn’t here fault.
you didn’t mean it did you?
ERIQUE GASLAMP
oh for goodness sake! where are
you?

4: The ghost girl gestures a finger upwards and makes a

sweet face. Gerome tries to understand what she means.
Erique has a grip on what he was searching for.

GEROME GASLAMP
what? what do you mean? up? what’s
up
ERIQUE GASLAMP
she will be in a mater of
moments...
5: Gerome recoils as Erique fires a round from his small
pistol at the ghost girl. The round travels though her
leaving a smoky trail as it does. The ghost girl looks down
in terror.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
be gone banshee!
GEROME GASLAMP
no don’t!
SFX: BANG!
6: The ghost girl alters her face and flashes Erique a
ghastly, gnashing set of teeth in anger. Gerome looks on
unable to help.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
ahh!
GEROME GASLAMP
stop it!
7: The ghost quickly floats away into the gloom. Gerome
grabs Erique by the collar.
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)
what did you do you idiot? she
wasn’t doing anything!
ERIQUE GASLAMP
she had you under a spell, I was
saving you! why are you yelling at
me?
8: Gerome storms off in the direction the ghost left. Erique
is left by himself.

GEROME GASLAMP
there was no spell, she was trying
to tell us something, tell me
something and now we’re back to
square one!

wait! Gerry...
GEROME GASLAMP
just stay here and watch the gear

PAGE 7: INT. CATACOMBS. UNKNOWN PASSAGE WAY. NIGHT.

1: Gerome is making his way though one of the many narrow
passage ways in the catacombs. His lamp is now on a high
beam cutting though the darkness.
2: Gerome stops and thinks for a moment.
3: Finally Gerome realises what he must do and sighs
slightly.
GEROME GASLAMP
Hello? ghost girl?
4: Gerome continues his search down the passage way.

GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

errm, I’m Gerome, Gerome Gaslamp we
met earlier. I’m not the moron who
shot at you...

5: the ghost girl appears in the wall behind him, silently

watching. She is unsure of Gerome so she waits.
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)
I’m sorry about that. My brother
Erique, the little annoying one,
he’s sorry too. We just want to
help.
6: The ghost girl fades back into the wall you can see on
her face that she is trying to trust him.

GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

please come out. We can help you,
Erique can help you he’s quite
smart when he isn’t being a
complete burke!

PAGE 8: INT. CATACOMBS. CENTRAL CHAMBER. NIGHT.

1: Erique is sitting on the floor. His ghost catcher device
is in front of him with its front plate off. Besides his is
a roll of cloth holding several small tools. Erique has his
lamp softly illuminating him.

ERIQUE GASLAMP

well done Erique, ruined it all
again!

2: Erique picks up a delicate screw driver from the roll on

the floor.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

what good use you have put your
genius to, shooting a spectre,
enraging your only brother to the
point he wont speak to you
3: Erique leans into the device squinting at it. He places
the screw driver in and begins to twist.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

and now you can’t even make a
simple contraption work.

4: Erique reaches for a small set of pincers.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

analysing the changing density of
the ambient air pressure is child’s
play. you’re a complete
embarrassment to the family name!
5: Erique lightly pulls at a wire with the pincers helping
to lift it using the screw driver.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

aren’t you glad Father isn’t here
to see you fail again. Especially
in the field, what did he always
tell you? always be prepared!
6: Erique glances up and away into the distance as he
finishes his thought.

PAGE 9: INT. CATACOMBS. HIDDEN STREET. NIGHT.

1: Gerome has reached a spot in the trail that opens up. He
stops in his tracks.
2: Gerome adjusts the lens on his lamp to widen the beam
creating an orb of light.
GEROME GASLAMP
huh
3: In front of Gerome the path has turned into a small
underground street with small buildings on either side.
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)
okay... unusual.
4: Gerome hears a sound in the distance.

SFX: T-chick

PAGE 10:

1: Gerome begins to move forward along the forgotten

cobblestone street.
2: Gerome reaches a gap in the buildings and stops. In front
of him is a small well. The rope from the bucket wafts
gently in a hidden airflow against the wooden frame.

SFX: T-chick
3: Gerome turns and focuses on a door directly across the
street to him.

4: Gerome pushes on the old wooden door opening it slightly.

GEROME GASLAMP
hello?

SFX: creeeeeeeeeeekkk...
5: Gerome stands aiming his lamp beam into the small stone
house.
6: Gerome lowers his head trying to take in what he has
seen.

PAGE 11: INT. CATACOMBS. CENTRAL CHAMBER. NIGHT.

1: Erique is now standing holding the device in front of
him. He looks at it intently waiting for it to work.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
hmmm...
2: Erique adjusts a dial on the device. Behind him the ghost
girl is beginning to appear.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

right that should do it
3: The device lights up, as does Erique. Behind him the
ghost girl begins to reel back startled.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

ha! knew it! it does work!
4: Erique studies the readout. The ghost girl floats closer
towards him, holding out her hand as if to tap him on the
shoulder.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

but if you are working then that
means that...
5: Erique begins to turn preparing himself for what he way
see. The ghost girl is closer now, her arm is still half
reaching forward.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
there’s something...

6: Erique turns to find the ghost reaching out for him. She
smiles sweetly at him.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
ahh...

7: The pair look at each other, both take a moment to absorb

everything.
8: Erique panics and begins to run away. The ghost girl
gestures for him to stop.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

Geeeerrrryyyyy!!!

PAGE 12:
1: The ghost girl moves to overtake Erique who is running
blindly away from his lamp.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
its after me!
2: The ghost stops in front of Erique pleading for him to
stop. Erique skids into her.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

argh!
3: Erique skids to a halt. His eyes clamped shut with fear
and his hands protecting his face.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

Nooooooo!
4: The ghost girl looks slightly annoyed, rolling her eyes.
GHOST GIRL
*sigh*
5: The ghost girl returns to Erique curving round his
shoulder. Erique begins to open one eye.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
okay I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have
shot--
6: Erique hops away surprised. The ghost girl smiles and
waves.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

argh! s-shot through you... errm
hi?
7: The ghost girl floats a little closer again holding out
her hand. Erique relaxes a little.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
you’re just a girl, you’re not all
that frightening

8: She drops slightly to his eye level.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
do you talk? can you talk? what’s
going on?

PAGE 13:
1: The ghost girl holds her hand flat above her head trying
to communicate hight to Erique. He stares at her confused.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
huh? what do you mean high?
2: The ghost points into the gloom behind him, she looks
annoyed at his stupidity. Erique mimics her gesture pointing
over his shoulder.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

that way, over there? what’s over
th- oh Gerry! He went that way...
3: the ghost floats in the direction she was pointing,
calling for Erique to follow. Erique heads in the opposite
direction.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
wait a second, hold on!

4: Erique returns to the ghost loaded up with his gear and

carrying his lamp.
ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)
alright, lead the way Miss

INT. CATACOMBS. HIDDEN STREET. NIGHT.

5: Gerome sits outside the house he entered, he is leaning
against the wall. He is holding a withered doll in his hand
and is looking it over.

6: Gerome runs a hand down his face he looks distraught. A

light catches him from a distance. It is Erique’s lamp
light.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
Gerry? is that you?
7: Gerome returns his gaze to the doll. Erique’s lamp light
grows larger.

GEROME GASLAMP
yeah, it’s me...
8: Erique crouches down beside his brother. Gerome doesn’t
take his eyes off of the doll.

CONTINUED: (2) 15.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
are you alright Gerry, what is this
place?

GEROME GASLAMP
right now it feels like hell...

PAGE 15:

1: Gerome begins to stand. Erique helps him to his feet.

GEROME GASLAMP
I found this place not long after
I-thank you I left, followed the
sounds
ERIQUE GASLAMP
sounds?
GEROME GASLAMP
yeah I heard the girl giggling
again it lead me down here
2: Gerome takes his brothers lamp and points it towards a
house across the street from them.

GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

I found something over there
3: Erique begins to move, Gerome grabs his arm and stops
him.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
what did you-
GEROME GASLAMP
don’t! It’s- just don’t okay

4: Erique looks at him quizzically.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
what is it Gerry?

GEROME GASLAMP
not here, not now, lets get out of
here fist. I’ll explain everything
later
5: Erique and Gerome collect their things.

6: Gerome takes one last look into the hidden village,

Erique is already working his way down the dark passage away
from the scene.

PAGE 16: EXT. GRAVEYARD. NIGHT.

1: The sun is starting to make itself know on the horizon
there is just enough light to see but it still pretty dark.
Gerome has stops at the top of a small hill overlooking the
bulk of the graveyard. Erique is clambering up after him.

GEROME GASLAMP
I think this should do it
ERIQUE GASLAMP
are you sure? have you even done
this before?
GEROME GASLAMP
If I’m not sure I’ll just have to
try somewhere else

2: Erique leans on his knees as he catches his breath.

Gerome shrugs the pack off of his shoulders.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
I don’t want to be negative but
will it work again once it’s been
tried?
GEROME GASLAMP
I don’t know for sure, but we have
to try

3: Gerome retrieves a small mirror from his jacket pocket.

Erique watches him carefully.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
I must admit, I am sceptical of
this whole thing even after what
you did down there with th-
4: Gerome pulls out a small charm bracelet from a pouch on
his belt and holds it in his other hand.

GEROME GASLAMP
alright, quiet now
ERIQUE GASLAMP
yes sorry

5: Gerome wraps the charm around the mirror he begins to

speak but in a whisper. Erique watches quietly from the
side, his scepticism under control now.

GEROME GASLAMP

6: A faint light emanates from the mirror, Gerome continues

to quietly chant. Erique’s eyebrows lift as he begins to
marvel at the sight before him
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

ERIQUE GASLAMP
oh...

PAGE 17:
1: The ghost girl flies from the mirror in a brilliant flash
of light. Both brothers look on in amazement.

PAGE 18:
1: The ghost girl floats excitedly in circles and loops.
Erique steps forward and continues to marvel at the whole
event.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
Gerry that was incredible, how did
you know how to do that?
GEROME GASLAMP
an old hag taught me...
2: The ghost girl slows to a stop in front of Gerome, Erique
turns to follow her movements.
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)
you’re ready now all you need to do
is pick a spot you like the look of
3: the ghost girl kisses Gerome on the lips, he is a little
shocked but does not resist.

4: the ghost girl flashes him a large smile. Gerome begins

to blush slightly.
GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

5: The ghost girl swoops down the hill towards the grave
yard. Erique and Gerome watch as she goes.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
so what happens now?

GEROME GASLAMP
she needs to find a portal,
somewhere where she can join the
other side. There should be plenty
around here

6: they continue to watch as she moves between the graves.

Erique turns to his brother.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
so are you going to tell me why we
came up here

PAGE 18:
1: Gerome digs into his pants pocket and rummages for
something.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
just what did you see down there?
GEROME GASLAMP
something I don’t think I’m liable
to forget any time soon
2: Gerome pulls out an old weathered piece of paper and
unfolds it.

GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

while I was down there I found
this, it’s a note written by one of
the people who lived down there.
They were being hunted by by the
"society" Mr Smythe belongs to I
couldn’t find out why
3: Gerome hands over the piece of paper to Erique who begins
to study it intently

GEROME GASLAMP (cont’d)

eventually they found that they
were hiding down there underneath
what used to be a church. They
couldn’t run, they were trapped
down there. They all piled into one
house and took...

CONTINUED: (2) 19.

4: Erique looks up from the note. Gerome is rubbing his face

again like he did in the hidden village.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
what about the girl?

GEROME GASLAMP
perhaps she couldn’t go through
with it or maybe she went down
there afterwards and got lost, who
knows really. I just couldn’t just
let here stay down there
5: Erique places a hand on his brothers shoulder. Gerome
clasps his hand on top.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
it’s alright, she’s safe now.
GEROME GASLAMP
yeah, she is
6: Erique folds the paper back up.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
we need to take this to the
authorities maybe we can’t save the
rest of them but we can-

GEROME GASLAMP
what’s the point? we have no idea
how old that note is or even if its
true, and this ’society’ is now run
by some of the richest men in the
land. How can two urchins like us
stop that? just promise me one
thing
ERIQUE GASLAMP
anything

PAGE 19:
1: Gerome tuns back to watch the sun peek over the horizon.

GEROME GASLAMP
that we will have nothing to do
with any society, group, guild or
party

we won’t

just us, I don’t want to turn out

2: Gerome reaches for his pack Erique follows him.

ERIQUE GASLAMP (cont’d)

besides what group would want
anything to do with us?
GEROME GASLAMP
they might want to measure how may
"Erique’s" something is...
3: Erique and Gerome make their way down the hill away from
the graveyard.

ERIQUE GASLAMP
I’ll have you know I got my device
to work and they would have no
problem measuring any spectral
anomaly in "Erique’s"

GEROME GASLAMP

ERIQUE GASLAMP
indeed it is and in the next
iteration it will do more than that

4: Gerome ruffles a hand through Erique’s hair.

GEROME GASLAMP
I’m glad I have such a smart little
brother

5: Erique begins to straighten his hair, Gerome places his

hands in his pockets.
ERIQUE GASLAMP
and I’m glad I have a big brother
who doesn’t hold grudges
6: Gerome steps over a fallen tree branch, Erique walks
around it.

GEROME GASLAMP
I can’t hold a grudge against
you... I don’t remember where we
left the horse

ERIQUE GASLAMP
ha! well then it’s a good job that
I’m the smart one otherwise we
would be in trouble

PAGE 19: EXT. GRAVEYARD. AMONG THE GRAVES. DAWN.

1: The ghost girl drifts through the field of tombstones and
wooden crosses.
2: She stops and reads the names on a family plot.

3: closing her eyes and looking away she drifts off

continuing her meandering search.
4: Something catches her eye, it is to the left of where she
is.

5: She speeds across the ground no longer following the

paths, she flies straight though tombstones, wreathes and
flowers.
6: She stops outside of a small crypt some distance away
form the other graves.

PAGE 20:

light moves out further along the floor, bathing her in soft
white light.

4: She looks directly into the crypt, the doors now fully
open.
5: she cocks he neck back to glance behind her at no one or
place in particular and smiles sweetly again. Thankful for
the opportunity to be at peace.

1: Gerome is busying himself, feeding the various creatures
held in the cages long the back wall from a bucket. Erique
is working underneath the carriage.

2: Gerome gives a cage in the middle a slight wrap with the
side of his hand. The creates inside stir excitedly.

it is almost pitch black.
