TOTAL MATERIALS CYCLE

RECYCLING OF POLYMER MATRIX COMPOSITE MATERIALS

RECYCLING OF POLYMERIC MATERIALS:

- PRIMARY RECYCLING (REUSE)

Treatment of production scraps or slightly degraded materials
for manufacturing the original good quality products.

- SECONDARY RECYLING (MECHANICAL)

Physical-mechanical treatment (milling) of the waste material.

- TERTIARY RECYCLING (THERMO-CHEMICAL)

Thermo-chemical treatment (pyrolysis) of the waste material
with output of monomers and other solid, liquid and gaseous
products, which are suitable for industrial applications.

- QUATERNARY RECYCLING (THERMAL)

Direct material inceneration and energy recovery.

Recycling of polymer matrix composites:

- milling (secondary): reduction to dimensions, which are suitable
for the use as filler;
- pyrolysis (tertiary recycling): high temperature thermo-chemical
decomposition of the polymer matrix in inert environment, with
production of monomers, chemical compounds and fuels, as well
as recovery of chopped (short) ceramic fibres.

PYROLYSIS OF WASTE TIRES

EVERY YEAR, THE GLOBAL PRODUCTION OF WASTE TIRES IS MORE THAN 13 MILLION TONS
ABOUT 4 MILLION ARE GENERATED IN THE U.S.A. AND 400.000 ARE GENERATED IN ITALY
(ABOUT 60% ARE LANDFILLED)
