Simple Task: Lasallian Guiding Principles

SPIRIT OF FAITH
The spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in men and
women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves

To have faith is to believe the unseen, to trust the unknown and to see through the impossible.
The spirit of faith perceives the Lord in the things He, himself have created — through the scriptures, the
deprived, through each and everyone’s success, doubts and fears and more importantly, through us. We
as His creations are molded in His likeness — filled with the presence of the Lord’s goodness, love, mercy
— and so, in every instance in life, may it be during our downfall or salvation, He shares the moment
alongside us either through inanimate things or even the living.

ZEAL FOR SERVICE

Zeal is the enthusiastic and total gift of self for the sake of the mission expressed in such qualities as
gratuity and generosity, creativity and fortitude, compassion, and commitment.

Being zealous is to engage oneself for others, as the Lord has given Himself for us despite our sins.
It is about giving off our hearts, not merely for self-gratitude nor self-praise, but to be able to represent
the charitable and loving heart of the Lord which is parallel to our mission as health professionals. Zeal for
service is reaching out to the helpless — despite ourselves being helpless — and care for them in ways
that go beyond our abilities; eventually finding ourselves more self-satisfied and fulfilled because we have
instilled change and difference for the community we have cared for.

COMMUNION IN MISSION
Communion as a relationship with God, it is the source of all mission and ministry.

An act of communion is to be one with God — inspired to be at peace, sharing His ideals and His
purpose. To serve in communion is sharing other’s burden, extending our hearts to the least, the last and
the lost, for they are also one with God and celebrating their delightful hearts as to sympathize and
compassionately manifest the grace of the Lord in simple ways. An act of communion is pursuing the
Lord’s ideals and not turning a blind eye in other’s miseries, instead looking towards the helpless — to
move according to the purpose which God has bestowed upon us.

REVERENCE FOR LIFE

The goal of social development interventions is to preserve and bring forth the fullness of life.

Reverence is embedding in our life a sense of respect, recognition, and a sense of growth
alongside each other through social interventions. Reverence is regarding others as worthy as, and as
equally valuable as ourselves, which leads us to be appreciative and to be understanding for each other’s
character. It is being reverent if it allows one to transform and shape a person’s individuality so as to
maintain goodness (preservation) and to acknowledge one’s difference thus becoming fully aware of the
uniqueness and entirety of life (fullness of life), yet still managing to adapt to the diversity.
